Job Description

The Abilene Regional Airport is a public transportation facility located in Abilene, Texas, serving the travel and logistical needs of the region. As an important hub for both passenger flights and cargo, the airport facilitates efficient transportation and fosters economic growth in the surrounding community. The facility offers various amenities and services, including parking areas, to enhance the overall passenger experience. With its commitment to safety, quality service, and operational excellence, Abilene Regional Airport maintains its role as a key infrastructure asset within the local and regional transportation network. The City of Abilene oversees the airport's operations, ensuring standards are met in alignment with the city's core values of respect, integrity, service above self, and excellence in all endeavors.

The position available at the Abilene Regional Airport is that of Parking Lot Attendant, classified into two levels: Parking Lot Attendant I and Parking Lot Attendant II. Both roles play a vital part in the daily functioning and maintenance of the airport's parking facilities. Under general supervision, these roles are responsible for a variety of manual tasks that support the operation of the parking areas. The Parking Lot Attendant I is an entry-level position primarily focused on customer service duties such as assisting customers with directions and information, collecting parking fees, and maintaining cleanliness in and around the parking lot and attendant booths. This includes balancing cash receipts accurately and ensuring a pleasant and safe environment for all visitors.

The Parking Lot Attendant II holds a more advanced role, involving limited supervisory duties over Parking Lot Attendant I personnel. In addition to sharing the operational and customer service responsibilities, this position provides on-the-job training to new employees and manages shift schedules and timecards for parking staff. The Attendant II is expected to assist with cash drawer accountability and lead the team effectively while upholding the division's mission and values. Both roles require a valid Texas driver's license or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of employment and a readiness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including weekends and evenings, to ensure consistent parking lot management.

The positions require specific physical capabilities, including standing and sitting for moderate periods, occasional walking, and fine dexterity. Employees must be prepared to work under the demands of outdoor exposure and must act as essential personnel during city office closures when assigned by the director. This career opportunity offers entry into the aviation services field with the chance to contribute to a critical part of airport operations, emphasizing customer service, accuracy in cash handling, and teamwork. Candidates will be working in a dynamic environment that involves direct interaction with the public and operational responsibilities essential to the smooth functioning of Abilene Regional Airport's parking facilities.
