The organization is dedicated to creating an inclusive workplace where equity, diversity, and inclusion are foundational principles. Employees at the Port of Seattle enjoy a collaborative work environment that supports innovation, professional growth, and work-life balance, all while contributing to a mission-driven organization that underpins regional economic vitality and quality of life.
The role of Aviation Maintenance Facilities Services Assistant Manager is a critical leadership position within the Facility Service Contract Management team at Seattle Tacoma International Airport. This is a full-time, regular employment position offering a competitive salary range between $107,693 and $145,702, with placement depending on the candidate’s prior relevant experience. The Assistant Manager will be responsible for overseeing daily facility service operations and ensuring quality assurance from contractors at the busy and dynamic SEA Airport.
Responsibilities include managing contractor performance to ensure customer service and operational standards are met consistently. The role demands strong leadership skills to support and guide contracted employees, especially during off shifts, and to effectively monitor workload distribution and assignments. The Assistant Manager will also be tasked with overseeing all facets of operational and service functions as defined in contract agreements, including staffing, equipment, supplies, procedures, and preventative maintenance schedules. They will play a key role in managing contract transitions, ensuring that no disruptions occur to the Port’s operations, tenants, airlines, or the traveling public.
Analytical skills are crucial, as the role involves evaluating existing procedures, analyzing customer feedback, and performance audits, and recommending improvements. The Assistant Manager will also manage facility service fixtures, conduct preventative maintenance audits, and coordinate with various internal and external stakeholders, trades, and vendors to advance facility service initiatives. They will develop comprehensive pricing structures, contract scopes, timelines, and warranty provisions to ensure contract deliverables are met accurately and timely.
Additional responsibilities include providing support during irregular operations and emergencies, adapting to increased service demands as needed. This position requires working primarily in an office environment located within the Airport Office Building, but may also require exposure to areas with high noise and various hazardous materials. The work schedule is set during night shifts, typically Sunday through Friday or Sunday through Thursday with flexible start and end times. The position also requires compliance with Washington State residency within 30 days of employment and passing Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) background checks.
Ideal candidates will bring at least five years of experience in facilities, maintenance, or contract management, and the International Facilities Management Association (IFMA) Certified Facilities Manager certification is highly desired. Strong interpersonal skills, a commitment to equity, customer service orientation, analytical and innovative thinking, and the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate across diverse groups are essential for success in this role.
Comprehensive benefits include health care coverage, paid vacation and sick leave, holidays, retirement plans, and parental leave. The Port of Seattle is committed to fostering a supportive and equitable workplace culture where all employees are empowered to thrive and contribute meaningfully to the Port’s mission of advancing trade, travel, commerce, and job creation sustainably and inclusively.
