D.R. Horton is currently seeking to hire a full-time Audio/Visual Installation and Support Technician at their Corporate location in Arlington, Texas. This role is essential to their Information Technology team. The technician will be responsible for a wide range of activities related to the audio/visual (AV) systems used in corporate environments. The primary duties encompass configuration, documentation, installation, integration, troubleshooting, and customer support of AV equipment. The position demands technical competence in the design and installation of AV systems, professional communication skills, and the ability to work effectively within a team that coordinates across various departments, trades, and vendors.

The Audio/Visual Installation and Support Technician will engage in setting up, configuring, and testing AV equipment to ensure optimal operation according to specific project requirements. This includes detailed documentation and review of technical equipment lists and drawings, such as mounting plans and signal flow diagrams. Additionally, the role involves assisting in the development of installation schedules and providing coordination to ensure timely and successful integration of AV systems. The technician will conduct client training sessions to familiarize end-users with system functionalities, helping enhance user experience and satisfaction.

A critical aspect of the role is the hands-on installation work, which involves the termination, testing, labeling, and documentation of cables, as well as mounting equipment in accordance with design standards. The technician will also provide ongoing technical support, diagnosing and resolving hardware and software problems to maintain system performance and reliability. Job Requirements

  • Associate degree or equivalent in an engineering or technology discipline
  • One to two years of technical installation experience with corporate AV systems
  • Knowledge of AV systems design and installation
  • Ability to read technical drawings and diagrams
  • Experience with corporate AV equipment manufacturers
  • Technical installation and design experience in a design/build environment
  • Proficient with AutoCAD, Microsoft Visio, and diagnostic tools
  • Strong knowledge of AV system integration with networks and telecom
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Physical ability to lift or move 50 pounds
  • Willingness to work overtime
  • Ability to travel overnight

Job Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in an engineering or technology discipline
  • One to two years of technical installation experience with corporate AV systems
  • Knowledge in the design and installation of AV systems, including projection and display

  • Technical installation and design experience with corporate AV systems in a design/build integrator organization
  • Ability to create and edit designs in AutoCAD and Microsoft Visio
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Crestron and AMX diagnostic tools, and common DSP platforms
  • Knowledgeable in the integration of AV systems with corporate networks, corporate servers and telecom
  • Proficiency with MS Office and email
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Job Duties

  • Setup, configure and test equipment
  • Communication with internal customers regarding project and equipment status
  • Assist in the review of detailed technical equipment lists for shipping and delivery
  • Assist in the review of detailed technical drawings of equipment mounting, signal flow diagrams, dimensions, system power and network data requirements
  • Assist in the development of installation schedule, provide coordination with other departments, trades and outside vendor
  • Perform client training on system use
  • Install, terminate, test, label and document horizontal, backbone and other cables
  • Install and configure equipment to ensure conformity to design
  • Provide technical support for customer inquiries regarding all aspects of all current or previously installed AV systems
  • Perform diagnosis and resolution to hardware and software problems for a variety of end users
  • Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
  • Dress and route cable through cabinets, furniture, racks, ceilings and other pathways as required
  • Update and maintain various project operational worksheets
  • Ability to work overtime
  • Ability to travel overnight
