Job Description

Gerber Collision & Glass is recognized as one of the largest collision repair companies in North America, boasting more than $3 billion in sales and operating over 1000 locations across the United States and Canada. With a workforce exceeding 10,000 passionate team members, Gerber Collision & Glass has built a reputation for exemplary customer service with their mission to WOW Every Customer and Be the Best. The company prides itself on fostering a diverse and inclusive environment where employees from various backgrounds and abilities are welcomed and valued. Gerber not only offers a great workplace but also creates significant opportunities for career growth and development as the organization continues to expand.

The Porter role at Gerber Collision & Glass is indispensable for maintaining the high standards of the company’s service excellence. Porters play a crucial part in complementing quality repairs by ensuring all customer vehicles are cleaned and presented in pristine condition prior to vehicle delivery. This responsibility extends beyond vehicle care; the role also involves maintaining the cleanliness and orderly appearance of both the shop and office facilities, which contributes directly to an overall positive customer experience.

The role is hourly compensated, offering between $17 and $21 per hour, competitive based on skills, education, and experience. Porters at Gerber Collision & Glass engage in various tasks, such as executing the WOW (Wow Operating Way) plan consistently, daily housekeeping duties that include emptying garbage cans, dusting, sweeping, and managing waste disposal both indoors and in production areas. Additionally, the position includes outdoor maintenance responsibilities, such as keeping parking lots neat and shoveling sidewalks when necessary.

The position also involves the pre-washing of vehicles prior to repairs and thorough exterior and interior cleanup after repairs are completed. Transporting customer vehicles to sublet locations for additional repairs is another key duty, requiring a valid driver’s license and careful handling of customer cars. The role demands a keen eye for detail and commitment to customer service while working in a fast-paced and physically active environment.

Gerber Collision & Glass is known for offering a robust benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance effective from day one, annual paid time off, paid parental leave, paid holidays, a 401(k) retirement plan with a company match, and employer-paid short-term disability and life insurance. Additional benefits encompass continuing education opportunities, free annual prescription or non-prescription safety glasses, and an annual uniform stipend. The company is committed to making reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities, further emphasizing its inclusive workplace philosophy. This comprehensive package underscores Gerber’s commitment to employee well-being and long-term career fulfillment. Overall, the Porter position offers a rewarding opportunity for individuals seeking a stable job in the automotive collision repair industry and the chance to grow within a reputable leader in the field.
