The role at Gerber Collision & Glass is that of a Porter, an essential position focused on complementing quality collision repairs by ensuring customer vehicles are cleaned and prepared prior to delivery. This role also involves maintaining the overall appearance, cleanliness, and safety of the shop and office facilities, contributing to an optimal environment for employees and customers alike. The employment type for this position is hourly, with compensation ranging from $12.00 to $18.00 per hour, commensurate with the applicant's skill, education, and experience. Additionally, the Porter may be eligible for bonus opportunities linked to individual or business performance initiatives, providing incentives aligned with company success.

As a Porter, you will engage in tasks that include maintaining daily housekeeping duties both in the office and production areas, such as emptying waste bins, sweeping floors, dusting surfaces, and organizing tools and equipment. Responsibilities extend to ensuring parking lots and grounds are tidy, including shoveling sidewalks during winter conditions. Critical to this role is the pre-wash and post-clean of customer vehicles around the time of repairs, making sure each vehicle is presented in a pristine condition upon delivery. You will also be tasked with transporting customer vehicles to sublet locations when necessary. This hands-on role requires physical endurance, attention to detail, and a positive attitude.

Job Duties

  • Ensure consistent execution of WOW (Wow Operating Way) plan
  • Maintain daily housekeeping of office including emptying garbage cans, cleaning floors, and dusting countertops and work areas
  • Maintain daily housekeeping of production area including emptying waste cans, sweeping floors, disposing of unwanted vehicle parts, and organizing tools and equipment
  • Maintain parking lots and grounds in neat and orderly fashion including shoveling sidewalks
  • Pre-wash customer vehicles prior to repairs
  • Exterior and interior cleanup of customer vehicles after repairs
  • Transport customer vehicles to sublet locations for repairs
