The role of Auction Services Associate at CarMax Fresno Auction Center is pivotal to maintaining the smooth operation of vehicle inventory and auction processes. As an Auction Services Associate, you will be entrusted with responsibilities such as zone maintenance, vehicle preparation, receiving and reconciling vehicle inventory, and ensuring the final quality of saleable vehicles. Your tasks will also include vehicle movement on and off the lot, asset protection, and providing superior customer service to both internal teams and external customers.

This role requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to multitask effectively under supervision. The Auction Services Associate plays an active part in supporting auctions, delivering and retrieving vehicles from off-site vendors, and assisting in training new associates. The position promotes adherence to standardized work processes ensuring a clean and safe working environment and involves managing vehicle scanning and reconciliation daily. Associates also engage in wholesale reconditioning processes and auction systems, including simulcast platforms, enhancing wholesale inventory sales.

Moreover, upon certification, associates can participate in the gas reclamation process, further contributing to the company’s environmental responsibility initiatives. The role involves working in varying conditions, including outdoor environments that may be noisy or subject to inclement weather, and flexible work hours including nights, weekends, and holidays. The position also carries a competitive hourly wage between $16.91 and $25.60, reflecting the expertise and contributions of the associate.

Job Requirements

  • High school degree or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to read, interpret, and transcribe data
  • Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment
  • Strong inventory management skills
  • Willingness to acquire knowledge of wholesale and inventory procedures
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to work in both outdoor and office environments
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Wear CarMax clothing at all times
  • Complete company training

Job Qualifications

  • High school degree or equivalent work experience, preferred
  • Ability to read, interpret, and transcribe data in order to maintain accurate records
  • Successfully work with associates of other departments within the geographic location
  • Ability to multitask in a high energy, fast paced working environment
  • Strong inventory management capabilities
  • Willingness to acquire knowledge of wholesale and inventory operating procedures
  • Complete CarMax provided training

Job Duties

  • Ensure daily maintenance and security of inventory and vehicle parking areas
  • Maintain and document the transfer of incoming and outgoing inventory that is processed through the shipping and receiving facility
  • Participate in auction support
  • Deliver and retrieve vehicles from off-site vendors
  • Assist with training new associates
  • Adhere to standardized work processes
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Take customers to and from destinations using shuttle van
  • Complete daily scanning and reconciliation of the vehicle inventory
  • Perform wholesale reconditioning process
  • Assist in the selling of wholesale inventory using auction systems and simulcast platforms
  • Once certified, participate in gas reclamation process
  • Monitor transportation of incoming inventory from satellite locations
  • Provide outstanding customer service to internal and external customers at all times
  • Assist in other duties as assigned
