The company values diversity, inclusion, and fostering a positive work environment that empowers employees to grow professionally while contributing to CarMax's mission of delivering quality service. With a strong emphasis on integrity, transparency, and respect, CarMax stands out in the automotive retail industry as a company that prioritizes long-term relationships with customers and employees alike.
The role of an Auction Services Associate at CarMax's Oceanside ST Auction located at 1020 Airport Road in Oceanside, California, is a dynamic and multifaceted position primarily involved in several key operational aspects. This role includes zone maintenance, vehicle preparation, vehicle receiving, and inventory scanning and reconciliation, all critical to maintaining the accuracy and quality of the auction inventory. The Auction Services Associate is responsible for oversight of the final quality of saleable inventory and vehicle movement both on and off the lot. Asset protection is also an essential part of the responsibilities, ensuring that vehicles and inventory remain secure at all times.
Additionally, the Auction Services Associate provides exceptional service to both internal staff and external customers, often acting as a liaison during transactions and vehicle transfers. Duties frequently include delivering and retrieving vehicles from off-site vendors, participating actively in auction support, and assisting in the training of new associates. The role demands adherence to standardized work processes to maintain consistency and efficiency in operations. The environment is both office-based and outdoors, sometimes subjecting the associate to noisy or inclement weather conditions.
CarMax offers flexible working hours to accommodate shifts that may include nights, weekends, and holidays. The position requires the physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds and operate in fast-paced, high-energy conditions. The company provides the necessary uniform attire and emphasizes safety and cleanliness in the work environment.
The hourly wage for an Auction Services Associate position ranges from $17.40 to $36.90, reflecting experience and qualifications. CarMax also provides comprehensive benefits to its employees, including paid sick leave, vacation, holiday time, and employee training opportunities. This role is instrumental for those interested in pursuing a career within the automotive retail and auction sector, offering hands-on experience with inventory management, vehicle handling, and customer service excellence.
Joining CarMax means becoming part of a team dedicated to innovation, operational excellence, and continuous improvement. The company supports its associates through structured training programs and the opportunity for advancement within a supportive workplace culture. Being an Auction Services Associate at CarMax is not just about handling vehicles but also about contributing to a larger mission of delivering quality and satisfaction to every stakeholder involved, making it a rewarding career path in a thriving industry.
