The Athletics Event Staff position at Saint Mary’s College of California is a part-time role designed to support the operations of athletic events on campus. Reporting directly to the Associate Athletic Director for Operations or the Assistant Director of Athletics for Media Relations, this crucial role helps ensure that athletic events run smoothly and safely. The Athletics Event Staff are responsible for a variety of tasks that range from setting up and breaking down event facilities to managing ticket sales and media tables. Additional essential duties include operating game-related equipment such as the shot clock, score book, and scoreboard, making this position integral to the overall game day experience. The role requires individuals who can create a safe and positive atmosphere for fans and participants, enforce college policies, and handle any conflicts or medical concerns that may arise during events. The job offers a vibrant work environment within a community-oriented college, paying an hourly wage of $16.50. Candidates will find themselves immersed in the dynamic energy of collegiate athletics, gaining valuable experience in event management, public interaction, and conflict resolution. Job Duties

  • maintain and create an atmosphere of safety and appropriate fan participation
  • provide assistance to fans or staff when needed or asked
  • enforce college policies at all times
  • recognize and assist people who may need medical attention and contact necessary assistance
  • observe student behavior, de-escalate conflicts for escorting students in and out of the event, requesting assistance if needed
  • monitor areas where the event is taking place
  • aid in setting-up and break down of facility for athletic events, ticket sales and/or media table responsibilities, such as running the shot clock, keeping score book, running the scoreboard and other game day responsibilities as needed
