The hospital is well-regarded for its commitment to patient-centered care, innovative therapies, and collaborative medical practices. Burke Rehabilitation Hospital operates with a strong emphasis on advancing physical medicine and rehabilitation, supporting individuals recovering from injury or managing chronic conditions. As part of its broad range of services, the hospital includes a specialized sports medicine division that focuses on addressing the unique needs of athletes at various levels. This established healthcare provider fosters an inclusive, respectful workplace environment and promotes continuous learning, aiming to uphold high standards across all facets of care and administration.
The role of the High School Athletic Trainer at Burke Rehabilitation Hospital integrates specialized sports medicine expertise directly with the high school athletic community in the area. This position involves providing vital services to local high school student-athletes, supporting their physical health and athletic performance through proactive injury management and rehabilitation. As an athletic trainer, the individual will operate under the supervision of the high school medical director and collaborate closely with the expert team at Burke Sports Medicine. The role is primarily day-shift based, with variable hours and schedules that accommodate the fluctuating times of athletic events. The athletic trainer is responsible for all aspects of athlete care, including injury prevention, emergency care during sports events, rehabilitation planning, and ongoing health education. This position offers a competitive annual salary range of $70,000 to $80,000 and includes access to on-site housing subject to availability.
This job demands a dynamic and dedicated professional skilled in clinical evaluation, emergency response, and rehabilitation program design, with a compassionate approach toward promoting athlete wellness. Working hours vary depending on the sports calendar, with expectations to work evenings, weekends, and some holidays as dictated by athletic schedules. The athletic trainer will be responsible for ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA, managing confidential health information with integrity, and maintaining accurate and timely records. The role emphasizes communication across multiple stakeholders—physicians, coaches, athletes, parents, and school staff—to foster a holistic, safe, and supportive environment for student-athlete health. This position also supports general health education initiatives within the school system and contributes to the broader mission of Burke Rehabilitation Hospital in rehabilitation and sports medicine excellence.
