Job Description
Gadsden Independent School District is a well-established educational institution dedicated to providing quality education and extracurricular opportunities to its student community in New Mexico. As a district that values student development and community engagement, it places significant emphasis on maintaining high standards for both academic and athletic programs. The district is committed to fostering good sportsmanship, safety, and fair play in all its interscholastic athletic events, ensuring that students benefit from positive and nurturing environments. With a comprehensive athletic department, the district supports a wide range of sports and activities, creating opportunities for students to grow physically, socially, and emotionally while promoting a sense of team spirit and school pride. The school district also understands the importance of proper coordination and management of athletic events, which necessitates experienced professionals to oversee operations efficiently and maintain compliance with state and district policies.
The role of the Athletic Event Administrator at Gadsden Independent School District is a pivotal position that involves the administration and direct oversight of interscholastic athletic events on the assigned campus. This is a supervisory role requiring close collaboration with the Principal and the School Athletic Coordinator to ensure that athletic events are smoothly conducted following guidelines set by the New Mexico Activities Association and the district. The administrator is responsible for managing all scheduled athletic events, including 7th and 8th grade games, and ensuring that facilities are well prepared and utilized effectively for these events. A critical part of the role is the implementation and audit of ticket and gate receipts, demanding a detail-oriented approach and accountability.
The Athletic Event Administrator acts as the lead manager for all athletic events hosted by the school, overseeing personnel such as ticket sellers, ticket takers, security personnel, announcers, and other game workers. The role calls for active presence during every scheduled game, managing staff and enforcing policies that relate to student athlete safety, sportsmanship, and operational procedures. The administrator must enforce district and state game policies consistently, reflecting the standards and regulations set forth not only locally but also federally and by the New Mexico Activities Association. This includes maintaining order, supervising security needs, and promoting positive fan behavior.
In addition to routine event management, the administrator assists the School Athletic Coordinator in scheduling and coordinating the use of all athletic facilities for after-school events, ensuring there are no conflicts or issues with availability. This role requires someone who can apply common sense, problem-solving skills, and sound judgment in a dynamic environment, often under pressure. The position demands excellent communication skills to interact effectively with students, staff, and fans, as well as mathematical ability to handle monetary transactions and data related to ticket sales and attendance.
Physical demands of the job include standing, walking, reaching, stooping, and the occasional lifting of items over 50 pounds, commonly associated with event setup and breakdown. The work environment is primarily outdoors, subjecting the administrator to varying weather conditions and moderate to high noise levels. Despite these challenges, the role offers a rewarding opportunity to impact student athletics positively and ensure the consistent delivery of safe, well-managed school sports events. This is a vital operational position within the Gadsden Independent School District Athletic Department, directly contributing to the successful execution of the district’s athletic programs and enhancing the overall student experience.
