Job Description
The Gadsden Independent School District (GISD) is a public education system dedicated to providing quality education and extracurricular opportunities to students across various campuses. GISD places a strong emphasis on fostering student development not only academically but also through athletic programs that promote teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. As a responsible and community-oriented school district, GISD ensures that its athletic events are well-managed, safe, and inclusive, reflecting the values of both the district and the New Mexico Activities Association (NMAA).
The Gadsden Independent School District is currently seeking a dedicated Athletic Coordinator to administer and direct interscholastic athletic events on their assigned campus. This role is key to the success of the district’s athletic programs, focusing on the management and coordination of all scheduled athletic events and facilities. The Athletic Coordinator collaborates closely with the Principal and the School Athletic Coordinator to execute a seamless sporting experience in compliance with policies set by federal, state, and district authorities as well as the NMAA. This is a vital position responsible for ensuring that all athletic events maintain standards of fairness, safety, and encouragement of good sportsmanship.
The Athletic Coordinator’s responsibilities include promoting positive interaction among students and fans, managing ticket sales and gate receipts, supervising game workers, and coordinating facility use to optimize the scheduling and functionality of sports events within after-school hours. This role demands physical and mental engagement as the coordinator must be present at every scheduled game, predominantly at the 7th and 8th-grade levels, and actively oversee the entirety of the event. The position entails enforcement of district and state game policies and ensures accountability through the auditing of ticket sales. Supervisory duties extend to overseeing all game staff, including ticket sellers, takers, security, and announcers.
This role is ideal for individuals employed by the Gadsden Independent School District who demonstrate a strong commitment to the district’s athletic and educational mission. Candidates must be adept at multitasking, managing logistics, and fostering a positive environment that supports the welfare and development of student-athletes. The Athletic Coordinator must also be physically capable of performing demanding tasks such as standing, walking, and occasionally lifting over 50 pounds. Experience or aptitude in handling safety regulations, interpreting procedural documents, and verbal communication is essential.
GISD offers this position within a dynamic and supportive educational community, promoting a culture where students and staff are encouraged to excel and participate actively in athletics. Those interested in this role should be prepared to bring enthusiasm, organizational skills, and leadership to cultivate a thriving athletic program that positively impacts the students and community. The position provides an opportunity to contribute to a district that values inclusivity, transparency, and the holistic development of its youth through a strong athletic framework.
