Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred
  • one year of experience in a retail environment preferred
  • six months supervisory experience preferred
  • ability to walk and stand frequently
  • ability to bend, stoop, kneel for stocking and unloading trucks
  • ability to handle merchandise and equipment such as scanners, pricing guns, box cutters, merchandise containers, dollies, carts, and rolltainers
  • ability to lift up to 40 pounds frequently and occasionally up to 55 pounds
  • ability to climb using a step ladder up to six feet
  • ability to work in a fast-paced environment with moderate noise
  • occasional exposure to outside weather conditions
  • possession of valid driver's license and access to personal transportation
  • ability to make bank deposits and travel to management meetings and other stores

Job Qualifications

  • Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • ability to solve problems and handle a variety of situations
  • good organization skills with attention to detail
  • ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals
  • ability to perform mathematical calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages
  • ability to perform cash register functions and generate reports
  • knowledge of cash, facility, and safety control policies and practices
  • knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control
  • ability to drive own vehicle to the bank to deposit money

Job Duties

  • Provide superior customer service leadership
  • greet and assist customers
  • operate cash register and scanner to itemize purchases
  • open and close the store a minimum of two days per week
  • assist Store Manager with scheduling employees
  • provide adequate training for employees
  • conduct safety meetings
  • ensure employee compliance with company policies and procedures
  • manage merchandise through receiving, unpacking, stocking, restocking and rotating items
  • assist in maintaining accurate inventory levels and controlling damages and markdowns
  • implement and maintain planograms according to established practices
  • ensure financial integrity via cashier accountability, key control, security practices, and cash control procedures
  • authorize and sign for refunds and overrides
  • count register tills
  • deposit money in bank
  • manage the store in Store Manager's absence
