The role of Assistant Store Manager at Dollar General is a crucial leadership position within the retail store environment. The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in maintaining a clean, well-organized store focused on delivering outstanding customer service. This role involves supervising store employees, managing merchandise presentation, completing paperwork, and preparing deposits. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred
- one year of experience in a retail environment
- six months supervisory experience preferred
- ability to lift up to 40 pounds frequently and occasionally up to 55 pounds
- ability to stand and walk frequently
- ability to bend, stoop, and kneel frequently
- ability to use equipment such as handheld scanners, pricing guns, box cutters, merchandise containers, and carts
- ability to drive own vehicle for bank deposits and travel to meetings and other stores

- knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control
- ability to drive own vehicle to the bank
Job Duties
- Provide superior customer service leadership
- greet and assist customers
- operate cash register and scanner to itemize purchases
- open and close the store a minimum of two days per week
- assist Store Manager with scheduling employees
- provide adequate training for employees
- conduct safety meetings
- ensure employee compliance with company policies and procedures
- manage merchandise including receiving, unpacking, stocking, restocking, rotating merchandise, and building displays
- maintain accurate inventory levels by controlling damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork, and facility controls
- implement and maintain planograms
- ensure merchandise presentation meets standards
- ensure financial integrity through cashier accountability, key control, security practices and cash control procedures
- authorize and sign for refunds and overrides
- count register tills and prepare bank deposits
- assist with store management in the Store Manager's absence
