The position of Assistant Store Manager at Dollar General plays a vital role in the operational success and customer service excellence of individual stores. The Assistant Store Manager is also responsible for opening and closing the store on designated days, assisting with employee scheduling, training, and safety meetings, and maintaining compliance with company policies. Financial integrity remains a critical component of the role, requiring cashier accountability, key control, adherence to cash handling procedures, and oversight of bank deposits. The Assistant Store Manager must occasionally use their own vehicle to transport funds to the bank and attend management meetings or visit other stores when necessary.

Comprehensive knowledge of store operations, safety regulations, cash handling, and loss prevention practices is essential. The role also requires physical stamina to handle stocking, lifting (up to 40 pounds regularly and up to 55 pounds occasionally), bending, kneeling, and occasional climbing with the use of step ladders. Working conditions may include exposure to moderate noise, outside weather, and a fast-paced retail environment. Job Duties

  • Provide superior customer service leadership
  • greet and assist customers

  • maintain accurate inventory levels by controlling damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork, and facility controls
  • assist in implementation and maintenance of planograms
  • ensure merchandise presentation aligns with company standards
  • ensure financial integrity through cashier accountability, key control, adherence to security practices, cash control procedures, authorize and sign for refunds and overrides, count register tills, and prepare deposits
  • assist with store management in the store manager's absence
