The role available at Aloha is that of an Assistant Store Manager, a critical position that supports the Store Manager in managing daily store operations. This role is dynamic and multifaceted, requiring both leadership and hands-on experience in retail management. The Assistant Store Manager steps in to supervise sales associates and assign duties in the absence of the Store Manager, ensuring smooth store functioning in compliance with company policies and procedures. The position demands a high level of customer service, from promptly greeting customers to ensuring that merchandise is well-stocked and priced correctly.

Key responsibilities include processing daily paperwork, assisting with inventory management, placing orders, and handling merchandise upon receipt. Additionally, the Assistant Store Manager performs cashiering duties while adhering to strict cash handling policies unique to Island Mini-Mart (IMM). Security and safety are also significant components of the job, requiring vigilance and compliance with established protocols. Maintaining a clean store environment and performing general housekeeping tasks are essential to uphold the brand image and customer experience.

This role is structured with daily duties comprising about 60 percent of time spent on sales associate tasks and 40 percent supervising and assigning staff duties. Periodically, the Assistant Store Manager conducts price surveys, attends manager meetings when the Store Manager is absent, and participates in monthly store meetings. Occasionally, the role involves stepping in to cover sales associate shifts, completing price changes, assisting other store locations, and undertaking other duties as assigned. Flexibility and a proactive approach are essential because the position may require working varied shifts, including day, night, swing, or graveyard shifts and covering the Store Manager’s day off.

The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills, excellent customer service orientation, and a sound understanding of retail operations. Mathematical ability is important for cash handling and daily paperwork. Experience with inventory and stock management is necessary, as is the ability to prioritize work assignments effectively. Physical demands include standing for long periods, lifting merchandise up to 50 pounds, and performing various movements such as climbing, stooping, and reaching. Communication skills are also vital as the role involves interaction with customers, coworkers, vendors, and training new employees.

Educationally, a high school diploma or equivalent is required. Successful completion of the Sales Associates Training Class and on-the-job training provided by the Store Manager and computer training are important components of skill development in this role. A valid driver’s license is mandatory. Candidates should have one to two years of experience in customer service, cash handling, and supervisory roles.

Working conditions include both indoor work under regular store conditions and occasional outdoor work depending on operational needs.
