Job Description

Sonesta International Hotels is a prominent player in the hospitality industry, recognized as the 8th largest hotel company in the United States. With a dynamic and rapidly growing portfolio, Sonesta encompasses an exceptional blend of full-service and focused hotels located in major cities across the U.S. and internationally. Their impressive network extends to over 1000 properties in eight countries, demonstrating a powerful global presence and commitment to delivering unparalleled hospitality experiences. The company prides itself on being driven by the human side of hospitality, emphasizing service with passion, loyalty with purpose, and creating authentic connections that enrich every guest's stay. Sonesta's diverse portfolio includes owned, managed, and franchised properties, making it a versatile and robust hospitality brand that caters to a wide range of travelers and preferences.

This opportunity at Sonesta is for the role of Assistant General Manager (AGM), a critical leadership position within the hotel management team. The AGM works closely with the General Manager (GM) to drive the hotel’s overall success by achieving key performance objectives. These objectives focus on revenue generation, cost control, guest and associate satisfaction, and maintaining the highest standards of product and service quality. This role demands a proactive leader who can collaborate effectively with various support teams including marketing, revenue management, sales, accounting, facilities, human resources, information technology, and procurement. The AGM will play an integral role in managing and supporting the operational and financial aspects of the hotel.

The Assistant General Manager's responsibilities are broad and include overseeing daily hotel operations while ensuring the delivery of outstanding guest service aligned with Sonesta's G.U.E.S.T. standards. The role requires a strong emphasis on customer service excellence, where the AGM must instill a passion for exceptional guest experiences among all hotel associates. The AGM will also be instrumental in managing sales activities and collaborating with sales directors and regional teams to foster business growth. This includes direct selling and executing comprehensive sales and marketing strategies tailored to the hotel's trade area.

Revenue management is a key area of focus, where the AGM partners with the Regional Revenue Manager to optimize room pricing strategies, leveraging tools such as Opera and Synxis property management and reservation systems for maximum financial performance. Additionally, the AGM manages important areas of the hotel such as front office, housekeeping, and food and beverage operations, as well as overseeing the physical maintenance of the property to uphold a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.

Beyond operational duties, the AGM is responsible for financial stewardship, assisting in budget development, variance analysis, and financial reporting in collaboration with corporate and hotel finance teams. This role also includes ensuring compliance with human resource policies, benefits administration, IT system management, and procurement processes, all within the framework of Sonesta’s corporate standards and policies.

This position offers an anticipated pay range of $75,000 to $80,000, with the base pay varying based on experience and other factors. The employment is full-time and comes with a comprehensive benefits package, reflecting Sonesta’s commitment to the well-being and development of its employees. Sonesta International Hotels stands as an equal opportunity employer, keen on fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce where all qualified candidates receive fair consideration without discrimination.
