The role available is that of a Hotel Manager on Duty (M.O.D.), which plays a crucial part in ensuring seamless hotel operations during the absence of the General Manager or when management is conducting other duties. This is a leadership position that requires overseeing multiple hotel departments including Guest Services, Food & Beverage, Housekeeping, Engineering, Accounting, and Sales to maintain high standards of operation. The M.O.D. is responsible for guest satisfaction, operational supervision, and supporting the General Manager with revenue generation, cost control, and employee development initiatives. The Hotel Manager on Duty is expected to lead by example with a friendly and service-oriented demeanor. Job Requirements

  • At least 5 years progressive experience in a rooms or food and beverage department at a hotel
  • Or a 4-year college degree and 2 to 3 years experience in a rooms or food and beverage department at a hotel
  • Or a 2-year college degree and 3 to 4 years experience in a rooms or food and beverage department at a hotel
  • Previous supervisory experience required
  • Proficient in Windows operating systems
  • Ability to work typically a 50 hour workweek
  • Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and stand during entire shift
  • Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative actions quickly and accurately
  • Must maintain composure under pressure
  • Must be effective in problem-solving and communication
  • Must understand financial information and basic arithmetic

Job Duties

  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Avion Hospitality standards
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming
  • Comply with Avion Hospitality standards and regulations for safe and efficient operations
  • Ensure efficient operation of the hotel by supervising guest services, food and beverage, engineering, accounting, sales and housekeeping departments in the absence of the General Manager
  • Communicate and correct deficiencies in departments
  • Assist General Manager with revenue generation programs
  • Participate in sales efforts by meeting clients and participating in sales calls
  • Assist in employee development through training programs
  • Conduct bi-weekly one-on-one meetings with department heads
  • Facilitate employee empowerment for guest satisfaction
  • Assist with financial reporting and corporate deadlines
  • Ensure training in service standards is conducted in all departments
  • Oversee accounts receivable, payroll, month-end closings
  • Ensure compliance with preventive maintenance and deep cleaning programs
  • Maintain professional relationships and communication across departments
  • Support operations during peak periods
  • Ensure fair and equitable treatment of all employees
  • Complete required corporate training and certifications
  • Maintain public areas during peak times
  • Manage hotel safe security and conduct monthly audits
  • Ensure all scheduled meetings take place on property
