The Veterinarian role at Vetco Total Care is an immersive, hands-on position requiring a deep commitment to quality care for pets. Veterinarians here are supported by advanced medical equipment such as ultrasound machines, heated hydraulic surgery tables, and DDXR, as well as a collaborative medical team including paraprofessionals who specialize in areas like dentistry and nutrition. The Veterinary position is part-time, based at Petco’s facility located at 15895 Pines Blvd, Pembroke Pines, FL. This is an onsite role requiring veterinary professionals to provide exceptional clinical services, including physical exams, disease diagnosis and treatment, and preventive care protocols suited to each pet’s unique needs. The role also involves performing routine and complex surgical and dental procedures, planning treatments for hospitalized patients, and collaborating effectively with referral hospitals to ensure continuity of care. Veterinarians at Vetco Total Care are encouraged to engage in ongoing rounds and staff education to maintain the high level of care and communication throughout the hospital team.

This role demands a broad skill set including excellent problem-solving abilities for rapid and precise diagnosis, effective communication skills to interact with clients and colleagues, and a compassionate demeanor to handle emotional situations professionally. The work environment typically requires standing for extended periods and occasional lifting up to 30 pounds. While the role does not have direct supervisory responsibilities, the veterinarian acts as a de facto leader, shaping hospital culture and supporting the clinical team’s development.
