The Veterinary role within Petco's Vetco Total Care full-service veterinary hospitals is a highly immersive position that combines expert medical care with compassionate client service. In this full-time veterinarian role based in Riverbank, California, you will perform comprehensive physical exams, diagnose and treat illnesses, and provide preventive care tailored to each patient's lifestyle and environment. The role requires proficiency in routine and complex surgical procedures including spays, neuters, abdominal surgeries, mass removals, and dental surgeries. You will also develop treatment plans for patients requiring day hospitalization and coordinate with referral hospitals for continuity of care.

As part of the hospital team, you are expected to contribute to a patient-first culture, ensuring excellent customer and patient experiences through professionalism and exceptional teamwork. You will collaborate closely with hospital medical leaders and area medical directors, adhering to Petco’s quality standards while maintaining clinical discretion. The role also includes participating in rounds, sharing knowledge across staff, and supporting staff development by disseminating best practices.

Ideal candidates will be licensed veterinarians with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an AVMA-accredited school, holding necessary licensure including DEA, controlled substance, and USDA Category I accreditation. Effective communication skills, compassion, and the ability to maintain professionalism during emotionally challenging situations are essential. The position requires physical stamina and comfort with surgery, anesthesia, and client interaction.

This veterinarian role offers a competitive salary range of $87,700 to $186,100 annually, reflective of experience and location, along with a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, 401(k), incentives, and paid time off.
