The Veterinarian position at Vetco Total Care is a full-time, on-site role located in Oceanside, California, offering a salary range from $87,700 to $186,100 annually. This role involves direct responsibility for diagnosing and treating animal patients, performing surgical and dental procedures, developing and implementing treatment plans, and ensuring seamless communication both within the hospital team and with pet owners. Veterinarians in this position work under the guidance of Hospital Medical Leaders or Area Medical Directors but have autonomy in patient care decisions. Job Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent
- Active veterinary license without contingencies or ability to obtain by start date
- Current DEA license
- Controlled Substance License if applicable
- USDA Category I Accreditation or completion within two months
- Ability to perform anesthesia and routine surgeries
- Excellent communication skills
- Compassionate and professional attitude
- Telephone and computer proficiency
- Team player attitude
Job Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school
- Active licensure as a veterinarian without contingencies in the state of employment or ability to obtain by start date
- Current DEA license
- Current Controlled Substance License, if applicable, or ability to obtain by start date
- USDA Category I Accreditation or completion within two months of hire
- Comfortable performing anesthesia and routine surgeries including canine and feline spays, neuters, mass removals, and dentals
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Compassionate and professional demeanor during emotional and stressful situations
- Telephone and computer skills
- Team player willing to learn new techniques and accept change
Job Duties
- Provide excellent patient care by performing physical examinations, diagnosing and treating diseases, and providing preventive care
- Utilize a problem-based approach that includes developing a complete problem list and diagnostic plan
- Document patient observations, treatments, and client interactions accurately
- Perform routine and complex surgical procedures including spays, neuters, exploratory surgeries, and mass removals
- Conduct routine and complex dental procedures including examinations, radiograph evaluations, extractions, and oral surgeries
- Develop treatment plans for day hospitalization patients and coordinate overnight care and referrals
- Participate in rounds at the beginning and end of shifts
- Disseminate knowledge to staff to improve care and communication
- Perform additional duties as assigned
