The role of Associate Software Engineer at L3Harris Technologies is a dynamic position located in Palm Bay, FL, designed for individuals passionate about software development in a cutting-edge defense technology environment. This position operates on a unique 9/80 work schedule, where employees work 9 days out of every 14, totaling 80 hours, with every other Friday off. The Associate Software Engineer will apply principles of computer science, engineering, and mathematics to develop software solutions, particularly for embedded real-time control systems found in advanced tactical radio equipment. Collaborating closely with cross-functional engineering teams, the engineer will engage in all phases of the software development life cycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, integration, and testing.

Candidates will have the opportunity to work with a variety of programming languages, including but not limited to C++, C#, C, Java, Ruby, and Python, across platforms such as Windows, Linux, mobile, and embedded real-time operating systems like VxWorks, QNX, and Integrity. The role also involves the application of digital signal processing (DSP) concepts, communication systems, and modulation/coding algorithms to optimize software performance. Through peer reviews, defect tracking, and software testing, the engineer will ensure software quality and reliability. Job Requirements

  • pursuing a bachelor’s degree or completed within the last 12 months in relevant fields
  • solid understanding of computer science and software engineering principles
  • ability to work in a fast-paced, agile development environment
  • effective communication and teamwork skills
  • willingness to participate in peer reviews and testing
  • must be able to obtain security clearance
  • authorized to work in the united states
  • adherence to company’s drug-free workplace policy

Job Qualifications

  • pursuing or recently completed a bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, electrical engineering, wireless engineering, information security, mathematics, digital arts & sciences or a related field
  • knowledge of programming languages such as C++, C#, C, Java, Ruby, JEE, HTML5, XML, SQL, Qt, .NET, Unix, Linux
  • understanding of software development life cycles and embedded systems
  • familiarity with digital signal processing and communication systems
  • ability to work collaboratively in cross functional teams
  • strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • experience with real-time control systems preferred

Job Duties

  • apply computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis concepts and principles in software development
  • work closely with cross functional engineering teams to develop and evaluate hardware and software interfaces
  • support all phases of the software development life cycle including requirements analysis, design, implementation, integration, and testing
  • develop software test procedures, programs, and documentation
  • utilize modeling tools to establish operating data, conduct tests, and evaluate results
  • participate in peer reviews, identify, track, and repair software defects
  • utilize various programming languages and platforms including C++, C#, C, Java, Ruby, Python, Windows, Linux, mobile platforms, and embedded real-time operating systems
