The Associate Scientist II - Quality Control, Microbiology position at Catalent Pharma Solutions in Madison offers an exciting opportunity for professionals who are passionate about quality assurance and laboratory operations within the biotech sector. The position involves performing analytical testing, entering data into Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), conducting preventative maintenance on laboratory instruments, supporting laboratory housekeeping and quality systems, and adhering to cleanroom and aseptic techniques.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, biotechnology, chemistry or related life sciences field with minimum of 1 year industry experience
  • Associate degree in biology, biotechnology, chemistry or related life sciences field with minimum of 4 years industry experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent with minimum of 6 years industry experience
  • Ability to execute and document cGMP Quality Control testing
  • Capable of operating laboratory quality control equipment
  • Experience with data entry into LIMS or similar systems
  • Able to perform routine and preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment
  • Knowledge of cleanroom procedures and aseptic techniques
  • Ability to work Sunday through Tuesday, 6 am to 6 pm, on-site

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, biotechnology, chemistry or related life sciences field with minimum of 1 year industry experience
  • Associate degree in biology, biotechnology, chemistry or related life sciences field with minimum of 4 years industry experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent with minimum of 6 years industry experience
  • Basic understanding of analytical chemistry and simple lab equipment
  • Familiarity with clean room procedure, aseptic technique, and general lab equipment experience
  • Knowledge of cGMP, good documentation practices (GDP), or good laboratory practices (GLP)
  • Experience following standard operating procedures (SOP)
  • General laboratory equipment experience including micropipettes

Job Duties

  • Executes and properly documents cGMP Quality Control testing with minimal supervision
  • Independently operates basic cGMP Quality Control equipment and moderately complex cGMP Quality Control equipment with supervision
  • Performs self-review of analytical data for accuracy and consistency with SOP
  • Enters data into Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) or laboratory reports
  • Performs general lab housekeeping in adherence to 5S standards
  • Initiates records in Trackwise
  • Accurately completes routine and preventive maintenance on basic to moderately complex equipment
  • Actively participates in team meetings and/or training sessions
  • Other duties as assigned
