The Network Communications Administrator role within the Northrop Grumman Classified Solutions team is a crucial position based in Palmdale, CA, requiring a full-time, on-site commitment due to the sensitive and classified nature of the work. This role involves comprehensive network communications support activities to ensure the robust operation and security of classified government contract systems. The position also includes travel to other sites such as El Segundo, CA, and Edwards Air Force Base, CA, accounting for approximately 10% of the time. The scope of work covers the maintenance and operation of LAN, WAN, VPNs, and encryption technologies, along with planning, designing, configuring, and implementing network solutions tailored to mission requirements.

The Network Communications Administrator leads in configuring, testing, and deploying routing and switching platforms and security appliances. This individual will be instrumental in developing enterprise-wide network standards, policies, and documentation to maintain security compliance. Responsibilities include resolving network incidents, coordinating third-party maintenance, providing technical support and mentoring team members, as well as contributing to network design and architecture. This role offers an opportunity to engage with government customers and internal leadership, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and participating in technical forums and procurement discussions.

Candidates for this position must have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, a current US Government Top Secret clearance, and be capable of obtaining Special Programs access. Required certifications include Security+ and CCNA or equivalent, with demonstrated experience in designing and maintaining LAN/WAN networks and managing routing protocols and network hardware. Preferred qualifications include experience with Cisco Call Managers, large-scale multi-domain network architectures, encryption solutions, and network troubleshooting aligned with systems integration.

Job Duties

  • Perform network communications activities in support of classified government contracts
  • maintain operations of LAN/WAN/VPNs and encryption technologies
  • plan, design, configure, and implement small to medium scale LAN/WAN solutions that meet mission requirements
  • lead the configuration, testing, and roll-out of routing/switching platforms and security appliances
  • contribute to proposing technical network design solutions to management
  • conduct capacity planning, performance forecasting, and present recommendations to program managers
  • develop and maintain enterprise-wide network standards, policies, and documentation ensuring security compliance
  • resolve incidents within expected tolerances coordinating cross-functionally with teams
  • coordinate third-party maintenance for network equipment
  • provide second-level support resolution of technical problems and answer queries by telephone in support of internal customers computer hardware, software, network, and telecommunications systems
  • work independently with senior staff providing strategic guidance
  • lead customer engagements defining requirements, developing implementation schedules, and overseeing delivery
  • implement and troubleshoot LAN/WAN technologies such as VLANs, trunking, spanning-tree, and protocols
  • support environments by means of ticketing requirement systems such as ServiceNow and JIRA
  • define and execute long-term network architecture roadmaps such as SDWAN, ZeroTrust, and cloud-enabled networking ensuring alignment with enterprise security and compliance
  • lead the design, integration, and implementation of large-scale multidomain networks supporting classified missions and oversee network migrations and cyber resilience initiatives
  • serve as senior technical liaison to government customers and internal leadership
  • author, maintain, and enforce enterprise-wide network standards, policies, and security frameworks
  • provide advanced monitoring, analysis, and planning for network systems
  • deliver third-level technical support for complex network, hardware, software, and telecommunications issues
  • develop innovative technical solutions to complex problems
  • raise issues requiring management attention and measure performance against KPIs implementing corrective actions
  • provide senior-level technical expertise by mentoring junior and experienced team members
  • lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds
  • work after hours and weekends as needed
