Job Description
Clark University, located in Worcester, MA, is a renowned institution committed to providing high-quality education with a strong emphasis on access, inclusion, and educational opportunity. As a private research university, Clark has built its reputation on rigorous academics balanced with a supportive and tight-knit community. The university serves a diverse student body; nearly one-third of its undergraduates identify as students of color, 18% are first-generation college students, and learners hail from over 80 countries worldwide. With an intimate 9:1 student-faculty ratio and unique programs like the Fifth-Year Free master's degree, Clark University offers its students a distinctive college experience that blends hands-on learning, meaningful mentorship, and preparation for impactful careers and community leadership after graduation.
The undergraduate admissions team at Clark University is dynamic, driven by a commitment to recruiting a talented, academically accomplished, and diverse student body. The full-time, exempt position available is designed for a smart, motivated, and equity-minded professional dedicated to supporting recruitment efforts. This role involves duties such as serving regularly as the counselor of the day, which includes presenting information sessions to large audiences, overseeing on- and off-campus recruitment activities, and representing the university's undergraduate educational experience comprehensively to prospective students, families, guidance counselors, and alumni.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the holistic review and evaluation of undergraduate admissions applications, aligning with institutional policies and priorities to ensure diversity and academic excellence. Utilizing both quantitative data and qualitative insights, the person in this position will inform territory management strategies to enhance recruitment initiatives and contribute meaningfully to the continuous improvement of admissions programming. Occasional weekend and evening hours are required, as well as approximately six to eight weeks of travel annually to attend college fairs, high school visits, and alumni events.
This role requires someone with strong oral and written communication skills, excellent organizational abilities, and the capacity to balance multiple projects and priorities with a goal-oriented mindset. Prior experience in higher education admissions or related sectors such as K-12 education or nonprofit work is highly desirable. Beyond functional skills, this role embodies qualities such as adaptability, professionalism, a sense of humor, positivity, and a deep commitment to student-centered service. The ideal candidate values diversity and is motivated by the opportunity to create authentic, positive experiences for prospective students and families, helping them navigate the college application process with confidence.
Clark University offers a competitive salary range between $63,810 and $78,650 for this role, reflecting the university's compensation philosophy and the candidate's experience and qualifications. As part of the university community, the admissions professional will join a collaborative team dedicated to equity, access, and student success, fostering an environment where the next generation of Clarkies can thrive academically and personally.
