Job Description
Georgetown University, located in the nation’s capital, is a prestigious institution known for its two unique campuses – the Hilltop Campus nestled in the historic Georgetown neighborhood and the Capitol Campus situated just minutes from the U.S. Capitol and U.S. Supreme Court. As a leading university, Georgetown offers rigorous academic programs and a global perspective, fostering a community united by intellectual curiosity, social justice, and a commitment to making a positive impact in the world. The university thrives on its close-knit community that encourages collaboration and dynamic engagement with the city of Washington, D.C., providing unparalleled opportunities for students and staff alike to grow professionally and personally.
The Laboratory for Global Performance and Politics (The Lab) at Georgetown University is seeking a full-time Associate Director for Operations for The Art of Care Initiative, a flagship program dedicated to advancing human connection, trust, and care through innovative integration of performance, storytelling, and facilitated dialogue. This program spans multiple sectors including healthcare, public health, education, and civic life, aiming to create meaningful and transformative interdisciplinary collaborations.
The Associate Director will be instrumental in facilitating the development and expansion of The Art of Care Initiative by coordinating programs, managing important partnerships, and overseeing daily operations. Collaborating closely with The Lab’s Artistic and Executive Director and Managing Director, this role will strategically support the vision and execution of a broad range of programmatic activities on campus and with community partners. Responsibilities include aiding in the organization of workshops, performances, and convenings, alongside managing internal and external relationships with Georgetown’s health and global institutes.
Additional scope includes providing ongoing support for the lab’s signature In Your Shoes™ program, which serves as the core methodology for the initiative. The Associate Director will also assist in outreach and marketing efforts, budget tracking, reporting, and comprehensive documentation. This position fosters close interdisciplinary collaboration, appealing to candidates who are passionate about arts-based practices, storytelling, and community engagement. The role is designated as hybrid, providing a blend of remote and onsite work to accommodate evolving university needs. The anticipated salary range for this opportunity is between $44,022.00 and $73,406.80, reflecting a commitment to competitive and equitable compensation based on experience and qualifications.
This position is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented, organized professional with excellent communication skills and a passion for integrating the arts within social and public health frameworks. Georgetown University offers a rich professional environment with a forward-thinking approach to interdisciplinary projects and a dynamic work culture within a historic and global-setting. The role not only supports the operational aspects of programming but also nurtures the initiative’s broader mission to foster deep, empathetic human connections through innovative civic and educational practices.
