Job Description

BMO Financial Group, commonly known as BMO, is a leading financial institution with a long-established presence as a Tier 1 broker-dealer. With a strong history of being at the forefront of Equity Finance and Proprietary Trading, BMO provides a comprehensive range of financial services to its clients globally. Headquartered in Canada and operating across multiple countries, BMO is renowned for its innovative approach and commitment to fostering lasting, positive change for its customers, communities, and employees. The firm prides itself on a workplace culture that values diversity, equity, and inclusion, making it an employer of choice within the financial services industry.

The Corporate Actions Associate role at BMO is based in Jersey City, NJ, and falls within the Customer Shared Services job family group. This is a salaried position, with pay ranging from $63,300.00 to $117,200.00, which may vary depending on experience, skills, location, and qualifications. The role operates within a hybrid working environment, allowing a balanced combination of collaborative office time and remote work, suited to the demands of the position. This dynamic role requires an independent, self-motivated individual who will provide daily corporate actions support for Firm Trading and Equity Finance accounts across six BMO business entities.

The successful candidate will manage the full life cycle processing of all North American corporate action events for Capital Markets. Key responsibilities include capturing announcements, managing voluntary election arbitrage, processing entitlements, and performing final entitlement reconciliations. The role demands daily communication and collaboration with trading desks, operations groups, accounts, and institutional counterparties to ensure efficient processing and accurate setups. It also involves monitoring cash and stock reconciliations and clearing discrepancies.

This position reports to the Senior Manager of the NAM Corporate Actions team and requires a strong understanding of corporate actions, associated risks, and adherence to regulatory and bank policies. The Corporate Actions Associate will serve as a subject matter expert in Corporate Actions and Entitlements, maintain key controls, contribute to risk management, and participate in audits and compliance verification efforts. The role also encompasses active involvement in departmental projects, including the integration of voluntary corporate actions processing into in-house and vendor systems.

Candidates should have a minimum of five years of asset servicing experience, with at least three years dedicated to voluntary corporate actions within a top or mid-tier broker dealer or bank. Strong proficiency with artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and a commitment to process innovation are highly valued. The role also requires excellent time management, organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Familiarity with systems such as Canadian BPS, DTC, CDS, Global One, and others is essential.

Overall, this is an exciting opportunity for professionals looking to contribute to a stable, engaged team within a respected financial institution. BMO offers comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, tuition reimbursement, and retirement savings plans, supporting employees in reaching both personal and professional milestones. Working at BMO means being part of an inclusive culture that supports career growth and values the impact individuals make from day one.
