The role of Associate Area Manager or Area Manager within Johnson & Johnson's Cardiovascular division is rooted in this tradition of excellence and innovation. Focused on the Norfolk, Virginia Beach, and Newport News regions, this position plays a critical role in expanding the company’s presence in cardiovascular medical device sales, specifically with the Impella® product portfolio. This portfolio represents cutting-edge technology designed to support heart recovery, electrophysiology, and stroke treatment, embodying the company’s commitment to improving cardiovascular health.
Candidates for this position will be expected to leverage their expertise in interventional cardiology along with strong sales and leadership capabilities to drive market growth, enhance physician and hospital partnerships, and contribute directly to patient outcomes. The role requires building strategic business plans, identifying new customers, leading clinical teams, and serving as trusted advisors during medical procedures to ensure the successful adoption and effective use of Impella® devices. The dynamic nature of this role demands flexibility, including availability for emergent patient care calls and up to 50% overnight travel.
This position not only demands a deep understanding of cardiovascular medical devices but also the ability to inspire trust and integrity among healthcare professionals and colleagues. Job Requirements
- Minimum of three years sales experience with at least two years in cardiovascular medical device sales for Associate Area Manager
- Minimum of eight years sales experience with at least five years in cardiovascular medical device sales for Area Manager
- Proven track record of selling into cath lab or surgical suite
- Proven ability to lead and motivate teams
- Strong knowledge of interventional cardiology
- Direct patient support experience required
- Availability for emergent patient care calls
- Ability to drive patient outcomes
- Ability to travel up to 50 percent overnight
- Conduct duties in accordance with all state and federal laws and regulations governing the medical device industry
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred or seven years of cardiology industry experience
- Proven track record of selling into cath lab or surgical suite
- Strong knowledge of interventional cardiology
- Experience leading and motivating teams
- Demonstrated success in achieving sales quotas
- Established relationships with interventional cardiologists and cath lab staff preferred
- Proven technology adoption and market development skills
- Ability to provide direct patient support
Job Duties
- Promote and sell Impella product line to established customers including interventional cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, and administrators
- Identify new customers and lead efforts in activating new centers
- Create account and territory business plans and build programs
- Exceed sales targets for assigned territory
- Initiate Impella development activities focused on increasing market awareness
- Lead clinical teams to drive Impella adoption in assigned territory
- Provide comprehensive guidance to physicians and staff on product use during medical procedures
