Job Description
Young Life is a prominent Christian ministry organization dedicated to introducing adolescents to Jesus Christ and helping them grow in their faith. Established with a clear mission of evangelism and discipleship, Young Life operates with a strong foundation based on the Christian belief system. The organization places a significant emphasis on spiritual growth, leadership development, and community building, serving youth primarily through school-based and community-centered programs. Young Life is renowned for its inclusive environment that fosters spiritual development, personal growth, and active participation in church communities. It is committed to maintaining biblical standards and expects all employees and volunteers to align with its Statement of Faith and uphold these guiding principles both during working and nonworking hours. This commitment ensures that the ministry's impact remains vibrant and consistent with its core beliefs.
This particular role is an Associate Area Director position within the Young Life Metro team that covers the Charleston area. Focused primarily on ministry growth at selected private schools and developing relationships in some public schools, this role works closely with the Metro Director. The Associate Area Director is instrumental in recruiting, training, and developing leaders from the College of Charleston as well as adults in the local community. The position involves direct ministry work including contact work, club leadership, and camping opportunities, ensuring that all activities are rooted deeply in prayer and the personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Leadership development is a critical component, with responsibilities that include vision casting, team building, and supervising staff and volunteer leaders.
In addition to spiritual leadership, this role supports resource development by managing part of the local budget, leading fundraising strategies, and building donor relationships. The Associate Area Director also contributes to the Young Life brand through public relations efforts and organizes events that help sustain ministry efforts. This position requires a commitment to ministry support functions such as accounting, communication, data management, and strategic planning, all performed with professionalism and adherence to organizational policies. The ideal candidate will possess proven relational skills, communication abilities, and experience in ministry environments, combined with a passion for serving as a servant leader dedicated to the Christian mission of Young Life. A college degree is preferred, along with the completion of Core Training Phase One. The role offers a meaningful opportunity to impact youth lives through a vibrant, relational ministry in a supportive and faith-driven environment.
