Job Description
The Conroe Independent School District (Conroe ISD) Child Nutrition Department is dedicated to providing nutritious, well-balanced meals that meet the dietary needs of students across its campuses. Conroe ISD is a recognized public school district located in Conroe, Texas, known for its commitment to academic excellence and comprehensive student support services, including robust child nutrition programs. Operating with a mission to support student health and academic performance through quality nutrition, the Child Nutrition Department plays a vital role in sustaining the well-being and educational success of the community's youth.
The department adheres closely to USDA and Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) regulations, ensuring all meals served are nutritional, safe, and compliant with all state and federal standards. The team works diligently to maintain high standards of food quality, sanitation, and safety throughout food preparation and service.
The position available is for an Associate and Cashier within the Child Nutrition Department, stationed at location 920. This role is a vital part of the food service operations, responsible not only for preparing food consistent with tested and standardized recipes but also for managing cashier duties during meal service. The role requires the individual to prepare appropriate quantities of food according to the menu requirements, emphasizing quality food production while maintaining rigorous sanitation and food safety practices. Furthermore, the role encompasses cashier responsibilities on the serving line during student meal periods, which includes cash register operation, reconciling cashier drawers, and ensuring accuracy and accountability in cash collections.
The position requires flexibility, as the Associate and Cashier may be asked to work at any campus and perform various duties as assigned by the manager to support team operations efficiently. This flexibility includes filling different roles as needed and maintaining punctuality and consistent attendance in compliance with departmental policy.
Additional responsibilities include stringent adherence to HACCP and health department regulations, maintaining a sanitary work environment, proper storage of food items and supplies, and effective communication with students, staff, and visitors. Important aspects of the role involve upholding confidentiality regarding student meal status, participating in required ongoing USDA training, and contributing positively to a safe and supportive work environment.
The job demands physical activity such as standing, walking, bending, lifting (up to 35 pounds), and working in environments with varying temperatures, moisture, and noise levels. Prospective candidates must be prepared for the mental and physical demands associated with the food service environment.
Candidates are expected to have the ability to read, write, and comprehend verbal instructions in English, demonstrate working knowledge of kitchen equipment and food production, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Food Handler’s Training is a mandatory certification that must be obtained within 60 days of employment.
The role is classified under pay grade AUX - 1C, with a minimum hourly wage of $14.20, offering a competitive wage within the public school nutrition sector. Interested applicants are encouraged to submit an Auxiliary online application and contact Annie Perry via email for interview opportunities. This position offers a career path within a well-established community-focused school district that values employee development and student success.
