Chatham Place at Mary Wade is a distinguished Assisted Living and Memory Care community dedicated to providing exceptional care and quality of life for seniors. Nestled within the larger Mary Wade campus, this community boasts 84 residential units, including a mix of one-bedroom and studio apartments. Designed specifically to cater to the diverse needs of senior residents, Chatham Place offers a specialized Memory Care section consisting of 20 units tailored to support individuals with cognitive challenges, alongside traditional Assisted Living accommodations. The community emphasizes a holistic lifestyle with amenities such as a bistro, a salon and spa, a fitness center, and a relaxing rooftop terrace to enhance the residents' well-being and comfort.

This full-time position as an Assisted Living Lead Line Cook at Chatham Place offers an hourly rate of $21.00 and involves working 37.5 hours per week, including every other weekend. The role demands flexibility with shift times, requiring availability for either early morning breakfast service or later evening dinner preparations. The Lead Line Cook plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality meals that meet the unique dietary needs and preferences of the residents. This position is vital in coordinating food production to ensure meals are served fresh, at the right temperature, with appealing presentation, and in accordance with special diet orders including allergies and fluid restrictions.

The Lead Line Cook will lead the preparation and serving of meals, assist with kitchen and dining setup on resident units, and ensure all food items are properly stocked and stored. Preparing special requests and desserts, reading and interpreting residents' dietary needs accurately, and maintaining a clean and organized store room are essential tasks. The role also involves collaborating closely with dietary management to assist with documentation of diet changes and ensuring the daily menu is posted for residents' convenience. Moreover, the Lead Line Cook is expected to engage directly with residents to review menu options and help choose meal selections, supporting the community's commitment to personalized care.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in cooking within senior community or healthcare setting
  • Ability to read and interpret dietary orders and special diet instructions
  • Flexibility to work early mornings and evenings including every other weekend
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Sensitivity to elderly residents' needs and preferences
  • Commitment to punctuality and reliable attendance

Job Duties

  • Prepares and directs preparation of food served following standardized recipes and special diet orders
  • Plans food production to coordinate with meal serving hours to preserve quality, temperature, and appearance
  • Carves and apportions food for serving and assists in serving duties
  • Keeps storeroom in order and puts away stock
  • Assists with setup for meal service on resident units, including preparing food items, plates, utensils, special and adaptive equipment
  • Prepares desserts, special resident requests, and items needed for meal service on units
  • Reads breakdown menu, is aware of resident food allergies, measures and prepares food within diet orders
  • Understands residents' diets, allergies, and fluid restrictions for service from hot carts
  • Flexibly shifts duties between cooking, preparing day and evening shifts
  • Assists with diet change documentation
  • Posts daily menus
  • Meets with residents to review menus and document meal choices
