Job Description
Graland Country Day School is a prestigious independent school located in Denver, Colorado, renowned for its commitment to providing an intellectually robust and character-driven educational experience from preschool through middle school. Established in 1927, the school has a rich history of fostering academic excellence, creativity, and personal growth in a nurturing and inclusive environment. With an enrollment of approximately 700 students and a dedicated faculty of over 100 professionals, 70 percent of whom hold advanced degrees, Graland places a strong emphasis on continuous learning, collaboration, and community engagement.
The school’s mission focuses on achieving intellectual excellence, building strong character, enriching students through the arts and athletics, and preparing them to become engaged citizens and thoughtful leaders. Guided by its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity Philosophy Statement and a strategic plan, Graland continuously evolves its programs to meet the needs of modern learners while staying true to its core values. The school fosters an environment where individual differences and divergent thinking are celebrated, inspiring students to pursue their passions with intention and integrity.
The Assistant/Associate Director of Community Relations is a key member of the Graland Development team, serving in a full-time, exempt, year-round capacity. This role is instrumental in enhancing engagement within the Graland community by fostering strong relationships across various stakeholders, including parents, alumni, faculty and staff, trustees, grandparents, community partners, and local organizations. The position's primary focus is to lead community-building initiatives, manage stewardship and donor relations, and support school events that serve different community constituencies.
Reporting directly to the Director of Development, the Assistant/Associate Director plays a pivotal role in maintaining and growing the school's loyalty society program and overseeing stewardship communications and recognition efforts. This individual also manages logistics, vendor coordination, and onsite management for a variety of community-building, cultivation, and donor events. Additionally, the position serves as a liaison to the Graland Parent Association (GPA), facilitating communication and collaboration between the group’s leadership and the school.
In addition to event management and community engagement, the role includes supporting GPA leadership with event planning, volunteer tracking, and registration processes. The Assistant/Associate Director actively participates in the life of the school community by partnering with educators, engaging with students where appropriate, and attending school assemblies and other events. Flexibility and teamwork are vital, as the position often requires pitching in to cover various needs within the school.
This role demands a professional who models core values such as caring, respect, patience, and appreciation for diversity. Confidentiality and discretion in handling sensitive information are essential, alongside a commitment to best practices in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). The school seeks an individual who demonstrates a growth mindset, openness to feedback, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment while contributing to the broader school community beyond the immediate responsibilities.
Compensation for this position ranges from $75,000 to $90,000 annually, commensurate with experience. The benefits package includes employer-paid health, vision, dental, and life insurance, professional development opportunities, paid time off during school holidays and vacations, participation in a retirement plan, daily free lunch, access to an on-campus workout facility, and potential subsidized on-site childcare based on availability. Graland is committed to equal opportunity employment and adheres strictly to all laws prohibiting discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, sexual orientation, veteran status, and more, ensuring an equitable workplace for all employees.
