Job Description
Walker & Dunlop is recognized as one of the largest providers of capital to the commercial real estate industry, supporting real estate owners and operators in bringing vibrant communities to life where people live, work, shop, and play. Their commitment extends beyond financing to creating impactful social, environmental, and economic change in the communities they serve. As a financially strong and forward-thinking company, Walker & Dunlop blends industry knowledge with technology to deliver innovative capital solutions while fostering a culture centered on integrity, respect, and client service. Employees are valued as essential contributors to the company’s mission, enjoying a collaborative workplace environment supported by comprehensive benefits and development opportunities.
The Events Department at Walker & Dunlop plays a pivotal role in enhancing internal engagement and client experiences through the planning and execution of corporate and industry events. This department is responsible for designing events that align with strategic business goals, maximize client value, and strengthen relationships. It coordinates closely with Human Resources to increase community engagement and promote the company through targeted marketing efforts.
The Assistant Vice President (AVP) position within the Events Department is a key leadership role reporting directly to the Vice President. The AVP independently manages a wide range of complex events including internal company meetings and large-scale external industry conferences. This role requires a high level of project management expertise as it covers the full event life cycle from planning, vendor negotiation, and budget oversight to execution and post-event analysis. The AVP must collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams as well as maintain strong relationships with clients and vendors to ensure seamless event delivery.
Key responsibilities involve utilizing event management platforms such as Bizzabo, Asana, and Salesforce CRM to organize event logistics and maintain accurate records of attendees and clients. Financial stewardship is critical, managing event budgets through forecasting, auditing, and reporting to support informed decisions. The role also demands strategic thinking in sourcing vendors and managing contracts to ensure compliance and alignment with event goals. Regular communication with leadership including weekly status updates to the VP is essential for transparency and continual improvement.
Candidates for this position should have significant experience, ideally over seven years in event or meeting planning, combined with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Hospitality, or a related field. Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Salesforce, Bizzabo, Box, and Asana is preferred. The AVP must demonstrate the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, anticipate needs beyond immediate tasks, and deliver exceptional customer service with clear communication across various stakeholders.
This full-time position offers a hybrid work schedule, generally requiring presence in the office from Tuesday through Thursday, with remote work options on Mondays and Fridays. The salary range is competitive, from $100,000 to $110,000 annually, plus discretionary bonuses, reflecting the importance of the role. As part of Walker & Dunlop, the AVP will join a Fortune Magazine Great Place to Work winner and benefit from a robust package that includes subsidized medical benefits, dental and vision coverage, retirement plans, paid leave, and wellness programs aimed at promoting a healthy work-life balance.
Joining Walker & Dunlop means engaging in a workplace committed to equity and diversity where equal employment opportunity is paramount. The company actively works against discrimination in any form and supports fair chance hiring practices. Employees are encouraged to grow professionally within this supportive environment, contributing to a company with a strong reputation and deep ties in the commercial real estate finance industry.
