The Assistant Store Manager Customer Experience role at PetSmart is a pivotal leadership position responsible for supporting store operations and enhancing the customer journey while safeguarding the health and safety of pets in the store’s care. Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • 3-5 years of retail leadership or customer-focused environment experience
  • Full time availability including evenings weekends and holidays
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds frequently and more with assistance
  • Proficiency in computer applications
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to handle physical demands including standing walking climbing ladders stooping kneeling crouching
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to noise and live animals
  • Must comply with all company policies and procedures

Job Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of retail leadership or customer-focused experience

Job Duties

  • Participates in recruiting interviewing hiring coaching and terminating associates
  • Facilitates associate development through reviews recognition training onboarding mentoring and succession planning
  • Addresses and administers associate complaints and grievances
  • Prioritizes delegates and validates daily tasks for associates to meet business and pet parent needs
  • Leads and coaches associates on proper processes to ensure pet safety and health
  • Coordinates staffing coverage for key store activities
  • Communicates company information and priorities to associates to ensure alignment
  • Leads the associate and pet parent experience and ensures pets in care are safe and healthy
  • Handles pet parent concerns in person telephone or online
  • Assists with reservations for hotels salons and training services
  • Oversees services including salon training hotel day camp live pet sales and adoptions
  • Evaluates operations and implements improvements
  • Maintains store standards and ensures compliance with policies and code of ethics
  • Conducts monthly services walks to validate policy execution
  • Acts promptly when sick or injured pets are identified and arranges veterinary transport
  • Shares responsibility for store opening and closing procedures
  • Drives business growth and holds associates accountable for sales and shrink targets
  • Manages expenses including labor and supplies
  • Coordinates with home office for work orders and purchase card allocation
  • Works with service associates on productivity and scheduling
