The Sales Floor Leader position at Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona is a front-line leadership role crucial to the daily operation and success of a retail store. This position carries a starting annual salary of $47,000, with eligibility for monthly performance bonus payouts of up to $1,000 based on achieving performance goals. Sales Floor Leaders are responsible for managing the sales floor activities that drive store revenue and operating income, while supporting Goodwill's mission of ending unemployment through effective retail operations. The role blends people management, operational oversight, customer service excellence, inventory control, donation processing, financial management, and staff training and development.
In this capacity, the Sales Floor Leader leads by example, ensuring that the store environment is clean, welcoming, and consistent with Goodwill’s brand standards. They oversee staffing, scheduling, and team member performance, coaching and developing associates to meet store goals. This position also requires strong community relations efforts, partnering with local businesses and organizations to promote Goodwill’s mission and act as an ambassador. The Sales Floor Leader must maintain compliance with policies and procedures and collaborate with departmental support functions including Asset Protection, Human Resources, Safety, and Finance.
To excel in this role, candidates must have at least one year of retail management and customer service experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is essential, as is the ability to communicate effectively in English and pass background checks and drug screenings where applicable. Job Duties
- Develops and executes retail operations plan to achieve daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly goals for operating income, revenue, and production
- monitors product levels (floor work, as-is, recycle, trash, seasonal back stock) daily to achieve bottom line sales budget against targets
- ensures payroll costs and operating costs are managed to budget
- ensures team members deliver excellent customer service to donors and customers
- works to de-escalate customer situations while finding an appropriate solution
- ensures store locations are clean, well-kept, and reflect the Goodwill brand appropriately
- partners with community businesses and organizations to promote Goodwill mission
- serves as a Goodwill ambassador to the community
- leads the day-to-day operations of the sales floor
- ensures that retail store associates and customer service manager are well-trained and fulfill their duties and responsibilities
- acts as a key holder for the store, closing shift manager, and backup to the store manager
- processes complex sales transactions, including customer returns
- ensures that team members are operating per company standards and procedures
- travels to other GCNA locations to assist other stores and attend training and development classes
- transfers to different stores as needed due to business needs
- partners with support areas (asset protection, human resources, safety, finance, etc.) to further business goals and ensure compliance
- builds a high-performing team
- responsible for performance management (coaching, discipline, performance improvement plans, and annual reviews), staffing, compensation, and development of team members
- plays critical role in driving company culture change efforts and change management processes
- models Goodwill core values - trust, collaboration, engagement, ownership, and innovation
- performs other related duties as assigned
