With a reputation for providing customers an exciting treasure hunt experience, Ross focuses on delivering a continuous stream of high-quality brands and on-trend merchandise at extraordinary savings. Headquartered in Dublin, California, Ross also maintains buying offices in New York City, Los Angeles, and Boston, along with eight distribution centers nationwide. In 2025, the company reported revenues of $22.8 billion, positioning itself as a Fortune 500 company dedicated to growth and excellence.

The Assistant Store Manager role at Ross is a dynamic and comprehensive position responsible for overseeing the store’s operations in alignment with company standards. Working closely under the Store Manager, or leading the store in their absence, the Assistant Store Manager plays a critical role in managing and supervising all assigned areas including customer service, associate performance, merchandising, safety, and overall store presentation. This position requires a proactive leader capable of balancing operational excellence with team motivation and development.

Key responsibilities include leading the implementation of company best practices to enhance productivity, analyzing store reports to evaluate expenses and performance, and managing associate scheduling compliant with business needs. The Assistant Store Manager ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and maintains a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. Additionally, this role supports recruiting, hiring, training, and developing store associates, fostering a culture of professionalism and teamwork.

Expense control and payroll administration are important facets of the role, requiring careful monitoring and adjustment based on business trends. Safety remains a top priority, with the Assistant Store Manager facilitating training and safety meetings while ensuring all emergency procedures and company policies are properly followed.

This leadership position also focuses heavily on customer service, promoting professionalism, friendliness, and efficiency across all customer touchpoints, including registers, fitting rooms, and sales floors. The Assistant Store Manager leads merchandising efforts by ensuring recovery, sizing, markdowns, and product presentation meet company guidelines and timelines. Loss prevention is another crucial area of responsibility, involving associate training, maintaining security protocols, and assisting with the annual inventory process.

Successful candidates will demonstrate strong management skills, business acumen, effective communication, and accountability. They should be capable of prioritizing multiple tasks, exhibiting independent judgment, and maintaining high-quality customer service standards. Physical demands include the ability to stand and move throughout the store extensively and perform tasks requiring bending, lifting, and use of store equipment.

Ross is an equal employment opportunity employer committed to providing a diverse and inclusive workplace where employees can thrive and grow their careers while contributing to the company’s ongoing success.
