The Assistant Shop Manager (ASM) position at Take 5 Oil Change is an exciting leadership opportunity designed for individuals who are passionate about customer service and team development. The ASM role involves overseeing shop operations, ensuring excellent customer experiences, and supporting the Shop Manager. This position includes mentoring and training employees, maintaining shop cleanliness, managing inventories, and performing light vehicle maintenance services such as oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid top-offs. The ASM is expected to regularly step into the Shop Manager's role during their absence, running the floor efficiently and ensuring all operational tasks are completed correctly.

The job requires physical stamina to move safely around vehicles and perform tasks such as lifting up to fifty pounds, bending, twisting, and standing for extended periods, sometimes in varied weather conditions. Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • previous management or supervisory experience preferred
  • strong leadership and communication skills
  • customer service experience
  • ability to perform technician duties including oil changes and light maintenance
  • ability to train and develop team members
  • ability to multitask and manage shop operations effectively

Job Duties

  • check in with customers before they leave the shop to ensure satisfaction
  • assume responsibility and authority of the Shop Manager in their absence
  • run the shop floor ensuring all employees are in position and tasks are completed
  • perform opening and closing procedures
  • assist with counting and adjusting inventory
  • train and develop subordinates
  • act as a role model and hold team members accountable
  • perform technician duties such as draining motor oil, changing oil filters, greasing chassis fittings, washing windshields, adjusting tire pressure, inspecting and topping off fluids, assisting customers in selecting oil types and other services, processing payments, performing coolant exchanges and transmission drain and fill services, restocking and maintaining inventory, and maintaining shop cleanliness
