Job Description

Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona (GCNA) is a mission-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering individuals, strengthening families, and building stronger communities by providing no-cost career development, training, and education services. Operating retail stores throughout Central and Northern Arizona, GCNA funds its vital programs focused on ending unemployment through the sales of donated goods. The Store Sales Floor Lead role at GCNA's retail location is a critical leadership position responsible for driving the day-to-day operations of the sales floor and supporting the broader organizational mission. This full-time position, starting at an annual salary of $47,000 with eligibility for a monthly performance bonus of up to $1,000, is tasked with maintaining operational excellence through effective people leadership, financial management, customer service, and inventory controls. This position not only manages the sales floor but also assists in overseeing the production room when necessary, ensuring smooth workflow and high productivity. The Sales Floor Lead plays an ambassadorial role in the community, forging partnerships with other businesses and organizations to extend Goodwill's reach and influence.

Within this role, you will lead by example and inspire a team of retail associates and customer service staff to achieve goals related to revenue, operating income, and overall store performance. You will be responsible for ensuring the store meets daily operational targets, maintains a clean and welcoming environment, and delivers exceptional service to every donor and customer. Managing payroll and operating costs against budgetary constraints is also a key duty, as is resolving customer concerns through effective de-escalation strategies.

As a key holder and closing shift manager, you will be entrusted with securing store premises and supporting the Store Manager in their absence. The role requires a high level of adaptability, including travel to other GCNA locations for team support or professional development training. You will collaborate with various departments including Asset Protection, Human Resources, Safety, and Finance to maintain compliance with policies and regulations while advancing business goals.

The Sales Floor Lead is responsible for nurturing a high-performing team through performance management practices such as coaching, disciplinary actions, performance improvement plans, and annual evaluations. They play a pivotal role in driving cultural and change management initiatives within the organization. This position demands proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, a background check, and demonstrated customer service leadership skills. Job Requirements

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen, where applicable for position

Job Duties

  • Develops and executes retail operations plan to achieve daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly goals for operating income, revenue, and production
  • Monitors product levels (floor work, as-is, recycle, trash, seasonal back stock) daily to achieve bottom line sales budget against targets
  • Ensures payroll costs and operating costs are managed to budget
  • Ensures Team Members deliver excellent customer service to donors and customers
  • Works to de-escalate customer situations while finding an appropriate solution
  • Ensures store locations are clean, well-kept, and reflect the Goodwill brand appropriately
  • Partners with community businesses and organizations to promote Goodwill mission
  • Serves as a Goodwill ambassador to the community
  • Leads the day-to-day operations of the sales floor
  • Ensures that Retail Store Associates and Customer Service Manager are well-trained and fulfill their duties and responsibilities
  • Acts as a key holder for the store, closing shift manager, and backup to the Store Manager
  • Processes complex sales transactions, including customer returns
  • Ensures that Team Members are operating per company standards and procedures
  • Will need to travel to other GCNA locations in order to assist other stores and to attend personal training and development classes
  • Transfers to different stores at any given moment due to business needs
  • Partners with support areas (Asset Protection, Human Resources, Safety, Finance, etc.) to further business goals and ensure compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Builds a high-performing team
  • Responsible for performance management (coaching, discipline, performance improvement plans, and annual reviews), staffing, compensation, and development of Team Members
  • Plays critical role in driving company culture change efforts and change management processes

  • Performs other related duties, as assigned
