The Assistant Store Manager at Ross plays a crucial leadership role, managing and supervising all store operations in partnership with the Store Manager or independently in their absence. This role oversees a variety of functions to ensure that company standards and best practices are consistently met across Customer service, merchandising, scheduling, payroll administration, and safety compliance. The Assistant Manager supports operational excellence by leading productivity efforts, analyzing store performance reports, scheduling associates efficiently to meet business goals, and ensuring adherence to local, state, and federal regulations. A vital part of the role includes organizational development, where the Assistant Manager assists in recruiting, training, and motivating non-exempt associates, helping to maintain a positive work environment and foster associate growth. The position also involves controlling store expenses, particularly payroll, by monitoring budgets and adapting to business trends.
Safety and security are top priorities. The Assistant Manager ensures that all associates understand and follow emergency procedures, maintain compliance with company safety policies, and participate in safety meetings. Customer service leadership is integral, involving coaching associates to provide courteous, friendly, and efficient service across the sales floor, registers, fitting rooms, and customer service desk. Upholding store brand representation and maintaining a clean, organized, and easy-to-navigate store environment further characterize the role. Merchandise processing and in-store marketing responsibilities include ensuring timely recovery, sizing, markdowns, and presentation are aligned with company guidelines.
Loss prevention is a critical component, with the Assistant Manager supporting training initiatives focused on loss prevention awareness and store shortage goals. The role requires integrity and confidentiality concerning cash, credit card information, and merchandise security. Additionally, the Assistant Manager is involved in inventory preparation and execution and ensures compliance with markdown policies and public view monitor systems. This comprehensive role demands a motivated leader with a focus on customer service excellence, operational efficiency, team development, and safety.
