The Retail Store Assistant Manager role at Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona is a pivotal position focused on leading the daily operations of the sales floor and assisting with production room management. The Assistant Manager ensures that all store functions are carried out effectively to meet business goals and uphold the organization's mission. This leadership position requires overseeing people management, store operations, customer service excellence, financial controls, inventory management, donation processing, and training and development of store team members. This role also involves acting as a key holder and backup to the Store Manager, supporting the store's closing activities, and traveling to other GCNA locations as needed.

Starting at an annual salary of $47,000 with eligibility for a monthly performance bonus of up to $1,000, this full-time role offers both financial incentives and a comprehensive benefits package. Assistant Managers are entrusted with driving store revenue, managing payroll and operating costs under budget, ensuring stores are clean and presentable, resolving customer issues, and promoting the Goodwill brand in the community. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience
  • One-year work experience in retail management
  • One-year customer service experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen
  • Ability to speak and read English proficiently

Job Duties

  • Develops and executes retail operations plan to achieve daily, monthly, quarterly, and yearly goals for operating income, revenue, and production
  • Monitors product levels daily to achieve bottom line sales budget against targets
  • Ensures payroll costs and operating costs are managed to budget
  • Ensures Team Members deliver excellent customer service to donors and customers
  • Works to de-escalate customer situations while finding an appropriate solution
  • Ensures store locations are clean, well-kept, and reflect the Goodwill brand appropriately
  • Partners with community businesses and organizations to promote Goodwill mission
  • Serves as a Goodwill ambassador to the community
  • Leads the day-to-day operations of the sales floor
  • Ensures that Retail Store Associates and Customer Service Manager are well-trained and fulfill their duties and responsibilities
  • Acts as a key holder for the store, closing shift manager, and backup to the Store Manager
  • Processes complex sales transactions, including customer returns
  • Ensures that Team Members are operating per company standards and procedures
  • Travels to other GCNA locations to assist stores and attend training
  • Transfers to different stores as needed due to business requirements
  • Partners with support areas to ensure compliance with policies and further business goals
  • Builds a high-performing team
  • Responsible for performance management, staffing, compensation, and development of Team Members
  • Plays a critical role in driving company culture change efforts and change management processes

  • Performs other related duties as assigned
