Their mission centers on helping individuals build a better life for themselves and their families by enhancing their skills, fostering inclusion, and promoting sustainable growth within the community. Goodwill of the San Francisco Bay operates various retail stores that serve a dual purpose: they provide affordable goods to the community and fund the organization’s impactful mission. These stores are staffed by dedicated team members who not only manage daily retail operations but also play an active role in community outreach and support.
The Retail Store Manager role at Goodwill of the San Francisco Bay, based in South San Francisco, California, is a full-time position offering a minimum salary of $70,304 per year. This position is further incentivized with a monthly performance bonus of up to $1,000 based on meeting performance goals. The manager leads the daily operations of the sales floor and helps oversee the production room where appropriate. This leadership position carries significant responsibility including managing people, store operations, customer service, financial management, inventory control, donation processing, and training and developing team members.
As the Retail Store Manager, you will play a key role in developing and executing retail strategies to achieve financial targets, including operating income, revenue, and production goals. Your oversight will ensure that inventory levels, payroll costs, and operational expenses are managed efficiently within budget. You will set the tone for superior customer service, handle complex sales transactions, and work to resolve customer concerns with professionalism and care. This role requires strong interpersonal skills to motivate and lead staff effectively, promote a positive store environment reflecting the Goodwill brand, and foster partnerships with community organizations to advance the Goodwill mission.
In addition to store leadership and day-to-day retail management, this position also requires collaboration with various support departments such as Asset Protection, Human Resources, Safety, and Finance to meet organizational and compliance standards. The manager must maintain consistent in-person attendance and show flexibility by traveling to other Goodwill stores within the region for support and training.
Goodwill is committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming workplace culture grounded in values like trust, collaboration, innovation, and engagement. The Retail Store Manager not only drives operational success but also plays a pivotal role in culture change and employee development, building a high-performing team with a shared sense of purpose. Candidates who thrive in this role are strategic thinkers with excellent decision-making skills and a passion for community impact. Goodwill of the San Francisco Bay offers a supportive environment with opportunities for career advancement within retail, warehousing, logistics, e-commerce, and corporate services.
Working at Goodwill is about more than just a job; it is an opportunity to contribute to a mission of positive social impact while growing professionally. The organization provides comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plans, professional development training, commuter benefits, flexible healthcare spending accounts, and mental health and wellbeing programs.
