The role of Assistant Bakery Operations Manager (ABOM) at the Indianapolis store located at 917 Indiana Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46202, serves as a critical leadership pipeline position within Insomnia Cookies. Designed to develop the next generation of Bakery Operations Managers, the ABOM role is ideal for individuals passionate about bakery operations and leadership development. The role demands functioning at almost the same level as the Bakery Operations Manager (BOM), with a focus on executing bakery operations with urgency, accuracy, and accountability. ABOMs are expected to seamlessly blend hands-on operational execution with talent development, administrative management, and team leadership responsibilities. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain solid experience managing bakery operations independently, preparing the candidate for full bakery ownership in the future.
As an ABOM, you'll be tasked with executing core bakery operations including inventory rotation, staffing coordination, scheduling, and administrative tasks while maintaining strict adherence to product quality, cleanliness, food safety, and guest experience standards. The role supports crucial functions such as ordering, inventory accuracy, and shrink control, as well as assisting in schedule creation and labor execution to meet operational targets. The position involves active participation in recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and training new staff members, delivering performance feedback, and fostering a culture rooted in accountability and growth mindset.
Leadership and ownership are key components of this role. ABOMs must be prepared to manage bakery operations independently in the absence of the BOM, model operational discipline and accountability, collaborate with area leadership to identify and resolve operational gaps, and ensure smooth continuity during leadership transitions or staffing shortages. Success in this role is defined by your ability to independently perform all BOM-level administrative and operational tasks, maintain a fully staffed and high-standard bakery operation, uphold strong accountability and consistency, and demonstrate clear readiness for progression into the Bakery Operations Manager role.
