Kroger has established itself as America’s grocer by embracing diversity, innovation, and a passion for food and people. The company’s core mission is to Feed the Human Spirit, not just by selling groceries, but by creating amazing customer experiences and nurturing a positive, inclusive work environment for its associates. Kroger takes pride in fostering teams that reflect its values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

This role is an Associate Store Manager position, which offers a unique opportunity for individuals eager to grow within a dynamic retail environment. This position involves joint responsibility for the overall performance of the store, including operational and human resources management. The Associate Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations, including scheduling, security, maintenance, safety, sanitation, ordering, and administrative functions, while also performing human resources-related duties.

In this role, the Associate Store Manager will actively collaborate with department managers and store associates to drive sales, reduce shrink, and ensure the delivery of exceptional customer service. This position calls for leadership skills that promote inclusive behavior and a positive team culture aligned with the company’s values. The Associate Store Manager will be responsible for managing total store operations in the absence of the Store Manager, which includes leading teams in planning and executing merchandising and operational initiatives. They will play an instrumental role in analyzing and responding to the competitive retail landscape, developing action plans to meet sales and profit goals, and managing store compliance with federal, state, and local laws.

Kroger offers comprehensive benefits to support the well-being of its associates, touching on physical, emotional, and financial health. In addition to competitive compensation, the benefits package includes health coverage (medical, dental, vision), paid time off including holidays and sick leave, access to an employee assistance program, financial counseling, associate discounts, tuition reimbursement up to $21,000, and robust training programs aimed at career growth and development. Whether you are seeking part-time work or looking to launch a career in retail management, this role opens doors to potential advancement and a rewarding future with Kroger.

This position requires a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of experience as a department or service manager or an equivalent role. Approval from the Store Manager or District Manager is necessary to assume this position. Retail management experience and knowledge of all aspects of store operations are highly desirable, along with supervisory experience. Kroger thrives on supporting its associates through training and development opportunities and promotes a strong connection to the communities it serves, encouraging relationship-building with local organizations and union representatives where applicable. Serving as a liaison between the store and district management, the Associate Store Manager helps ensure smooth communication and the effective execution of merchandising and operational plans.

Associates in this role must be capable of supervising and coaching teams, providing timely feedback, managing labor and supply costs efficiently, and ultimately working to retain staff and reduce turnover. The role demands a customer-focused mindset and the ability to uphold Kroger’s best-in-class reputation by ensuring an outstanding shopping experience. The Associate Store Manager is integral to Kroger’s commitment to fostering a supportive, inclusive workplace where all associates can thrive and bring their best every day.
