Kroger emphasizes core values such as respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety throughout all levels of the organization. As a leading retail establishment, Kroger continuously strives to enhance customer experiences and community relationships while promoting sustainable and profitable business practices.

This role is designed for an individual who is eager to learn and contribute to all aspects of store operations. The position entails understanding the operations of all departments and the duties involved in store management, sharing responsibility for overall store performance, especially in operational and human resources areas. The candidate will be tasked with key operational responsibilities including scheduling, security, maintenance, safety, sanitation, ordering, administrative duties, and human resource-related functions. It requires a hands-on approach to leadership with an emphasis on role modeling excellent customer service, managing store goals such as sales and profit targets, wage budgets, and other operational metrics like safety and shrink reduction.

The job involves working closely with department heads to identify opportunities, resolve issues, and implement improvement plans that align with the company’s standards. This role also requires effective communication and leadership to promote inclusion, build positive employee relations, and maintain compliance with all legal and company policies. In the absence of the store manager, the individual assumes full operational leadership responsibilities.

Ideal candidates are expected to contribute actively to sales growth, labor and supply cost management, and maintaining a safe and clean shopping environment. The job fosters community involvement and may include working with union representatives as applicable. Success in this role demands supervisory skills, the ability to provide constructive feedback, and capability in performance management and coaching. This role suits candidates aiming for a progressive career in retail management where they can make a significant impact on both store performance and employee engagement.
