As an Assistant Stewarding Manager at Hyatt Regency Columbus, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the hotel’s high standards. You will lead a diverse team responsible for ensuring cleanliness and organization across all kitchen spaces, including the maintenance of all hotel china, silverware, and cookware. This role requires a keen eye for detail and a strong commitment to health standards, as you will oversee compliance with Health Department Inspections and Ecosure yearly audits. The Assistant Stewarding Manager ensures the proper storage, inventory management, and allocation of culinary items while maintaining the highest sanitation standards.

Your duties will include the upkeep and maintenance of dishwashing equipment in coordination with the Engineering department, ordering cleaning supplies within budget limits, scheduling stewarding coverage, and ensuring the timely and accurate delivery and replenishment of event materials such as china, silverware, and cookware. Acting as a liaison between kitchen and banquet departments, you will also ensure strict adherence to food safety protocols. This essential leadership role requires attending weekly meetings, auditing kitchen and food and beverage areas, assisting colleagues in daily operations, and maintaining standards in the employee cafeteria.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years of food and beverage experience in a banquet setting preferred
  • 2 years of supervisory experience preferred
  • Ability to lift, pull, and push a moderate amount of weight consistently (10-50 pounds)
  • Capable of standing and walking for long periods of time
  • Strong supervisory skills
  • Able to work efficiently in a team oriented environment
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays

Job Duties

  • Leading a diverse team of colleagues
  • Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of all hotel china, silverware, and cookware
  • Responsible for maintaining the organization and cleanliness of all kitchen spaces within the hotel, keeping hotel in line for all health department inspections and Ecosure yearly audits
  • Responsible for proper storage, inventory, and allocation of all china, glass and silver for the culinary department and ensuring the highest standards of sanitation
  • Responsible for maintaining dishwashing equipment and upkeep of equipment in conjunction with engineering department as needed
  • Places orders for dishwashing and cleaning supplies, and inventory replacement items in budget range
  • Responsible for scheduling of stewarding coverage
  • Timely and accurate delivery of china, silverware, cookware and food for event functions within the hotel, and timely replenishment of said items when necessary
  • Act as a liaison between kitchen and banquet departments ensuring food safety protocols are met
  • Attending weekly meetings for accuracy of hotel events, audit kitchen and food and beverage areas throughout the hotel, assist colleagues in day-to-day business operations, help maintain operational standard for employee cafeteria
  • Ability to work within a team-oriented environment
  • Fast-paced environment that requires heavy amounts of walking and continuous standing
