The position involves assisting in planning and executing meetings and special events, implementing departmental strategies, and ensuring a seamless flow from sales to operations and vice versa. The role demands leadership in guiding the team to meet and exceed daily and weekly goals related to sales, attendance, guest satisfaction, and safety. The successful candidate will contribute to managing meetings and special event operations and budgets, ensuring profitability, and upholding exceptional customer service standards.

Responsibilities also include managing relationships with vendors, assisting with pricing and service agreements to enhance event experiences, and developing opportunities for upselling. In addition, the role involves managing controllable expenses, merchandise inventory, and enhancing merchandise displays to drive sales. The candidate will be instrumental in creating a customer-focused atmosphere that consistently exceeds guest expectations and promotes a positive service culture.

On the human resources front, the role requires managing and conducting HR activities such as interviewing, selecting, and training employees, appraising staff performance, and ensuring safety and security within the team. The candidate will support supervisors in achieving development goals and conduct performance appraisals according to company procedures.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2 years experience in hospitality, event management, food and beverage, sales and marketing, or related field OR 2-year degree from an accredited university in hospitality or related major
  • 1 year experience in hospitality, event management, food and beverage, sales and marketing, or comparable professional area
  • Proven leadership ability
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with event software systems
  • Customer service mindset
  • Ability to handle guest complaints professionally
  • Must be able to conduct performance appraisals

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Assist in planning and execution of meetings and special events
  • Assist in the implementation of departmental strategies
  • Promote and assist in the execution of all property events with seamless turnover from sales to operations and back
  • Lead the team to meet and exceed daily/weekly goals including sales, attendance, guest satisfaction, safety
  • Research and analyze new products, pricing, and services of competition
  • Assist in apprising property of all groups impacting operations
  • Conduct daily walk-throughs of banquet floor for client satisfaction and quality
  • Learn, operate, and train employees on event software systems
  • Assist in developing relationships with vendors and establishing prices and service agreements
  • Create opportunities to upsell during event planning
  • Manage controllable expenses to meet budgeted goals
  • Manage merchandise inventory and enhance displays
  • Create a guest-focused atmosphere that meets or exceeds expectations
  • Set positive example for guest relations
  • Interact with guests for feedback
