Marriott International is a globally renowned hospitality company known for its dedication to exemplary service and quality guest experiences. As a leader in the hotel and food service industry, Marriott continuously strives to provide a welcoming and growth-oriented environment for its associates. JW Marriott, part of Marriott International's luxury portfolio, encompasses more than 100 sophisticated properties worldwide, ranging from gateway cities to exclusive resort locations. JW Marriott is deeply committed to putting associates first, understanding that employee satisfaction is key to achieving exceptional guest experiences. The brand’s culture emphasizes confidence, innovation, genuine interaction, and intuitive service. Through ongoing training, development, and recognition, JW Marriott fosters a collaborative community where associates can pursue their passions in a luxury environment that prioritizes holistic well-being. This sets the stage for an enriching career path where personal and professional growth go hand in hand.

This management position at the JW Marriott Detroit located at 400 Renaissance Center entails leading the culinary team to achieve daily operational goals within the kitchen. The role is a full-time opportunity with a competitive pay range of $26.54 to $32.69 per hour and potential bonus eligibility. The primary focus is to lead and support kitchen staff while actively engaging in all aspects of food production, purchasing, and maintaining sanitation standards. The position is critical in ensuring both guest and employee satisfaction while aligning with operating budget requirements. Key responsibilities include maintaining culinary standards, supervising team activities, managing culinary goals, and delivering exceptional customer service.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED with at least five years of experience in the culinary or food and beverage industry, or a two-year degree plus three years of relevant experience. This role demands a leader capable of inspiring and mentoring staff, ensuring quality control of food production, and working collaboratively with both restaurant and banquet departments to coordinate meal service and events. The manager will participate in menu development, food presentation, and quality checks to meet the brand’s high standards. As part of the leadership duties, the manager will conduct performance appraisals, coach team members, handle employee concerns, and foster an environment rooted in teamwork and mutual respect.

Operationally, this role requires a keen eye for budget management including monitoring inventories, supply orders, and staffing to meet guest service expectations and financial objectives. Communication is vital as the manager will regularly brief team members about department goals and engage in continuous improvement efforts to enhance service quality. Problem-solving and loss prevention adherence are also integral parts of the role, ensuring smooth daily operations and safety compliance.

Serving as both a role model and advocate of excellent customer service, the kitchen manager will directly influence the dining experience by maintaining high standards and empowering employees to perform their best. This role offers growth opportunities within Marriott International and a chance to join a supportive global team committed to elevating hospitality standards. Associations who thrive in a dynamic, luxury hospitality environment where innovation and tradition blend will find this role both challenging and rewarding.
