The Assistant Smallwares Manager at Restaurant Depot plays a critical role in supporting the Smallwares Department’s operations by ensuring all products are available for sale and maintained under strict freshness and safety protocols. Holding a full-time, hourly position with an 8 to 10 hour shift with eligibility for overtime, this role requires a hands-on leader capable of fostering strong relationships with customers and staff alike to drive sales growth, minimize inventory losses, and uphold company standards. This position requires a blend of operational execution, customer service excellence, and effective team leadership skills.
Working closely with the Smallwares Manager, the Assistant Smallwares Manager will oversee product presentation, rotation, and replenishment while ensuring compliance with all health and safety standards. They will manage inventory levels through frequent cycle counting and maintain a clean, safe warehouse environment suited to the fast-paced nature of foodservice distribution. Additionally, this role involves utilizing suggestive selling techniques to promote smallwares products and assist with recruitment, training, and scheduling to build a capable and motivated team. The role offers a unique opportunity to contribute directly to customer satisfaction and business success by merging attention to detail with operational efficiency and leadership capabilities. Job Duties
- demonstrate teamwork to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant, safe working and shopping environment
- provide friendly and efficient customer service by demonstrating sincerity, patience, and respect in all customer interactions
- effectively communicate with customers and respond to questions and requests in a timely manner
- operate equipment according to company and OSHA guidelines
- follow basic product handling procedures in accordance with company and HACCP policy
- assist with product presentation, rotation, labeling and replenishment
- ensure in-stock position of available product while monitoring inventory levels through frequent cycle counts
- maintain working knowledge of all warehouse equipment
- gain and demonstrate a high level of operational execution and product knowledge
- ensure consistent execution of all Department operating procedures in accordance with Corporate Audit
- utilize accomplished selling skills to secure additional sales and use suggestive selling techniques to increase sales of products
- communicate code dating issues and shrink opportunities and monitor product quality to reduce shrink
- plan work duties appropriately during the scheduled shift to accomplish all assigned tasks
- maintain high cleanliness standards
- clean as you go, inclusive of washing, cleaning, sweeping, mopping
- assist department manager with interviewing, hiring and scheduling needs
- adhere to all local, state and federal laws, and company guidelines
- comply with and reinforce all food safety and safety regulations/guidelines/procedures and programs
- report all issues and illegal activity, including robbery, theft, or fraud
- assist general team members as needed
- assist in other areas of the warehouse as needed and requested
- must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation
