Job Description

San Jose Mineta International Airport (SJC) is a crucial hub for travelers in Northern California, known for its efficiency, accessibility, and diverse range of services and amenities. Among these offerings is a vibrant airport dining scene that caters to the needs of both domestic and international travelers. Our restaurants provide a unique blend of convenience and quality, ensuring that every passenger experiences excellent food and service before their flights. The airport's dining portfolio encompasses several well-known brands, including Jim Stumps, Tap and Pour, Peets Coffee, and Einstein Bros Bagels, which showcase a variety of cuisines and atmospheres tailored to a wide customer base.

We are currently seeking an Assistant Restaurant Manager to join our dynamic restaurant team within the San Jose Mineta International Airport. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced foodservice professional passionate about managing high-volume restaurant operations with an emphasis on food safety and leadership. The role commands a competitive salary ranging from $68,000 to $75,000 per year, with additional earning potential through a quarterly bonus and a year-end super bonus. The position offers a full spectrum of career development opportunities, plus an attractive benefits package that includes a comprehensive 401K plan with a generous company match.

In the role of Assistant Restaurant Manager, your primary responsibility will be to oversee both front-of-house and back-of-house operations, ensuring smooth and efficient service delivery aligned with corporate standards. You will be tasked with guaranteeing food quality and unwavering adherence to food safety regulations, which are paramount in an airport setting to meet health standards and customer expectations. Fiscal responsibility is another key aspect of this role; you will control operational costs, focusing on optimizing resources to maintain profitability without compromising quality.

Leadership and team development are vital components of this role. You will mentor and motivate a diverse team, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment. Maintaining established systems and operational standards across your units will also be your responsibility, assuring consistency in every guest experience. The role extends to merchandising strategies and office management, ensuring that the restaurant's visual presentation and administrative functions run seamlessly. Additional responsibilities include forecasting and budgeting to align with business goals and efficient problem-solving to address day-to-day operational challenges.

Candidates for this role should bring at least two years of restaurant management experience, preferably in a full-service restaurant with a bar or coffee shop environment. Proficiency in MS Office and point-of-sale (POS) systems is essential, as is strong organizational ability. Excellent communication skills are required, along with the ability to work effectively with executives and a diverse team. A proven track record in conflict resolution will aid in maintaining a harmonious work atmosphere. Educational requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, with an associate's degree or relevant coursework considered a plus.

Joining our team means becoming part of a high-energy, fast-paced airport environment that is both challenging and rewarding. You will have the chance to work with SSP America, one of the world's largest restaurant operators, known for providing robust career advancement opportunities and an inclusive workplace culture. In addition to a competitive salary and bonus structure, employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, life insurance, paid time off, 401K with company match, and an Employee Assistance Program.

If you are an energetic leader ready to make a significant impact in a bustling airport dining environment, we encourage you to apply. SSP America is committed to equal employment opportunities and inclusivity, ensuring all employment decisions are made without bias and providing reasonable accommodations during the application and interview process to comply with federal, state, and local laws.
