It is one of the busiest airports in California and offers a diverse range of amenities and services to travelers passing through. Among these services is a portfolio of vibrant dining options managed by Bad Egg under the umbrella of SSP America, one of the largest restaurant operators globally with a strong reputation for excellence in foodservice management. SSP America operates multiple beloved brands at SJC, including Jim Stumps, Tap and Pour, Peet's Coffee, Einstein Bros Bagels, and several others, all tailored to meet the needs of a fast-paced, high-volume airport environment. The company focuses on delivering top-quality food and beverages alongside exceptional customer service, maintaining strict food safety standards, and fostering a motivating work culture.

This is a compelling opportunity for an Assistant Restaurant Manager looking to advance their career within a dynamic, fast-moving foodservice setting. The position offers a full-time role located directly in the bustling San Jose Mineta International Airport terminal. With an attractive salary range of $68,000 to $75,000 per year, employees also have the potential to benefit from quarterly performance bonuses and an additional year-end super bonus, reflecting the company’s commitment to recognizing and rewarding achievement. Beyond compensation, employees enjoy excellent benefits including a 401K plan with a generous company match, and multiple paths for career growth within SSP America’s extensive network.

The Assistant Restaurant Manager role is pivotal in ensuring seamless front and back of house operations in an airport restaurant. This position demands a foodservice professional who not only excels in managing people and operations efficiently but also champions food quality, safety, and cost control measures. As an assistant manager, you will lead by example, motivating team members, maintaining operational systems and standards, and managing daily office activities within the unit. Responsibilities also include merchandising, forecasting, budgeting, and swiftly resolving operational challenges to maintain a high standard of service excellence.

Candidates with a background in full-service restaurant management, especially with bar experience, or coffee shop management are highly desired. Proficiency with MS Office suites and POS systems is essential, as is strong organizational capability and excellent communication skills to effectively work with a diverse team and company executives. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of two years of relevant restaurant management experience and hold at least a high school diploma or equivalent, with preference for those who have attained an associate’s degree or relevant coursework.

This role is tailored for driven individuals passionate about hospitality who thrive in a high-energy, customer-facing environment such as airports.
