The role of Assistant Restaurant Manager at Sonesta International Hotels plays a critical part in upholding these values within the food and beverage operation of the hotel. This position supports the Restaurant Manager in leading and managing the day-to-day restaurant functions to meet both brand standards and guest expectations. The Assistant Restaurant Manager ensures the restaurant delivers exceptional food and beverage service while maintaining employee satisfaction. They assist in coordinating food and beverage planning, preparation, and execution for all hotel outlets and functions, ensuring strict adherence to Sonesta’s safety, sanitation, and liquor laws. Job Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma
  • 1-3 years of experience in restaurant supervisory or management role
  • Experience in a union environment highly preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with food and beverage cost controls
  • Ability to motivate restaurant staff
  • Ability to suggestively sell menu items, beverages, and wines
  • Ability to endure abundant physical movements

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Assist in coordinating, planning, preparing, and executing food and beverage to the highest standards in outlets and functions within the hotel
  • Follow up on guest feedback
  • Assist in hiring, training, promotion, and firing of all restaurant employees
  • Ensure all Sonesta safety and sanitation standards are adhered to, including all local liquor and food safety regulations
  • Coordinate with Chef of daily menus and educate the team
  • Visibly work the floor to ensure flawless execution and handle all complaints
  • Inspect room and tables for proper set-up and cleanliness
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming
  • Ensure all closing duties for staff are completed before staff sign out
  • Perform other duties as requested by management
  • Assist in managing all aspects of the F&B department
  • Direct and complete scheduled inventories
  • Prepare weekly work schedules in accordance with staffing guidelines and labor forecasts
  • Adjust schedules throughout the week to meet the business demands
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings with staff and review all pertinent information
  • Assist in annual performance evaluations of team members
  • Ensure employees are treated fairly and equitably
  • Coach team by providing specific feedback to improve knowledge, skills, and performance
  • Establish and maintain open, collaborative relationships with direct reports and the entire Food & Beverage team
  • Utilize and collaborate with resources across departments and corporate offices
  • Motivate employees to perform to their highest standard and establish a trusting environment
  • Focus on the mission and well-being of the department, hotel, and company
  • Lead by example and operate with integrity and respect
